Example #1,456 of why Trump won the election
So….saw on twitter this weekend where a liberal CEO of some company I’ve never heard of (marketing company apparently) decided to give the rest of us advice on how to be less offensive to people like her.
First of all, how can anyone so devoid of self-awareness be any good at marketing? Secondly, I think I can speak for most Americans that don’t live in a progressive coastal Meccas and say that making our “town a place that people like us want to live in” is pretty much the opposite of what we are trying to achieve. We would in fact prefer that “people like you” keep your opinions to yourself and the progressive, “diverse”, cesspools you live in away from our tax dollars. You may be surprised to know that we don’t like “people like you” or your condescension, and that economically we are doing pretty damn well partly due to the companies fleeing your state in droves. So, thanks but no thanks for the advice. That and 3 bucks will get you a cup of coffee at Starbucks. (I’m sure you hate that as well)

If any of these idiots are actually appearing in anything now, a strike of this sort would put them in breach of contract. I expect the studios would pursue that aspect, and that it wouldn’t do their already pitiful career prospects any good.
That can’t be real can it? Sounds like something from the Onion.
Though I look at Snopes askance whenever politics is involved, I think they’re right on this one: http://www.snopes.com/hollywood-strike-trump-resigns/. I can’t find any NYT article matching the one they claim to excerpt.
I was just going by some of the other headlines scrolling down the top, e.g., “Obama Authorizes DHS to Overturn Election”. What kind of website is this anyway?
Their stated purpose is to fact check urban legends. They’re pretty good about non-political stuff, but, like most “fact checkers” they often let their political sympathies interfere with their mission.
Yeah, I’ve been scouring the SAG-AFTRA site and Googling my heart out but I can’t seem to find any explicit set of rules governing the conditions under which members can be allowed/expected/encouraged/forced to strike.
I love the way they lay out their desired wave o’ protest: “starting with the actors and celebrities themselves and encompassing companies in charge of making props, movie memorabilia and even souvenir shops“.
I guess, like the cast of Hamilton, they’re just assuming as actors always do that every last person even tangentially associated with the performing arts thinks as one on all issues. When I see the top tier folk lay out a “share the wealth” plan by which they’ll promise to keep the B-Z list actors, prop-masters, crews and souvenir peddlers afloat for Flouncefest 2017, then maybe they’ll get a modicum of grudging respect from me for their silly, silly, silly plan.
Also, after the 8 year gush-fest of celeb-slathering over Obama by Hollywood well, this quote is just precious: “It’s about time people understood that we’re the ones with the power and that the president is there to serve us, not the other way around.”
I’ve said it before. I love acting. But I am so sick and tired of actors.
And, he might make San Francisco pay for the wall.
hahaha!
Yes, excellent idea.
