Famed Political Editor Linda Breakstone on Media Bias

We caught up with Emmy Award-winning CBS and ABC political news reporter and editor Linda Breakstone who covered Presidential elections dating back to the Reagan years. Her wealth of knowledge and experience made this discussion far too short. Get the inside scoop on fake news, polling, and why Linda no longer trusts the media when it comes to political reporting.

I can’t help but notice that your guests are rarely holding a glass of whiskey.  I think that is a must!

That was a wonderful interview.  I’d love to hear her Glenn stories.  Sorry if I mention this too often, but my Dad started working on the space program in 1952 and played a role in Project Vanguard and GPS.

I don’t think you do, especially for something that big. And there are always new members who may not know about it. I say we shout from the rooftops all the eminent and interesting people we have on Ricochet.

Setting up another location now for a follow-up interview with Dave and Whiskey Politics.  Linda is a marvel; a tough, inquisitive and brilliant journalist who never let a politician take the easy way out.  You will love her stories.

Finally watched this.  To the final question about whether the media will come back, I’m less sanguine.

I see a high likelihood that in an attempt to come back, the media will decide that they are going to start doing their jobs again, and covering the real news rather than just parrot the administration talking points.  But it will backfire, because it will, rightfully, be seen as going after a Republican after letting the Democrat skate by for eight years.  It won’t restore their credibility, it will reinforce their lack thereof.

They are just going to parrot Democrat talking points and attack the Republicans.  It has worked well for them for years, so why stop a winning formula?  The only thing they will have to do is shutdown opposing narratives as fake news then they will once again be the only voice in the room.
