Breaking: Obama Praises Himself
On Thursday, President Obama released an “exit memo” reviewing his eight years in office. Shockingly, he thought his presidential tenure was pretty much the best thing ever. I wrote about the brag sheet today for the New York Post:
Apparently, in 2008, America was a smoldering hellscape ravaged by bloodthirsty neocons, greedy banksters, and intolerance lurking behind every Bush. But then the clouds parted, a rainbow framed the warming sun, and the smartest, kindest, boldest leader ever rode into our imperial capital on a white gender-indeterminate unicorn.
In less than a decade, he fixed the economy, delivered health care, united Americans, granted peace to the world, and healed the planet itself. My name is Obamandias, President of Presidents; Look on my Works, ye Mighty, and despair!
You gotta hand it to the guy: He’s not encumbered with excess humility.
…For nearly 2,000 words and more than a dozen graphs, Obama presents a Potemkin America that stands astride the globe, citizens dance arm in arm, and paychecks fall from the sky. But this is a standard tactic of the progressive left — insisting that politicians can fix all ills and how horrible things were before their guiding hand.
Hopefully, the next four to eight years can reverse all the damage he has done.

If somehow the handover could be accompanied by a dueling narcissists banjo breakdown it would be even more awesome. Soon to be ex-President Obama will find being a vocal supporter against President Trump gets a little pushback that thin-skinned Obama isn’t going to like.
Just a few comments on Mr. Obama’s “accomplishments”
“solar now employs more Americans than coal mining in jobs that pay better than average and can’t be outsourced.”
What solar jobs can’t be outsourced? Installing panels on roofs? Does that really pays more than average? (Plus, was there really a big risk of coal miners being “outsourced”?).
“And today in America, marriage equality is finally a reality across all fifty states.”
Wasn’t he against that when he ran in 2008?
I think your second (New York Post) link is wrong – it goes to the same white house press release as the first.
The implication also being that all ills can be personally blamed on a president you don’t like. I don’t know if the media ever stopped blaming Bush for everything that was bad under Obama, though it maybe started to cool off around year 6. Nonetheless, weeks before Trump has taken office, they’re already placing existing circumstances directly at his feet. Goodness, that must be a lot of power he holds, if he can cause so much trouble without even taking office. Kind of sets us up for what the next 4 years (at least) of news is going to sound like.
There’s always the possibility that Obama moves to Hawaii and stays quiet.

There was a coating of snow on the sidewalk this morning when I walked out to pick up America’s Greatest Newspaper (we also subscribe to the Wall St Journal). I sat down in my chair with a cup of coffee (Ricochet brand) and was pleasantly surprised to see your byline in the front section. Congratulations! I can now look forward to following on Page Six of the Post the chronicling of your adventures as you hit the club scene now that you are “Big Time” Jon Gabriel.
After 8 years of the media whispering sweet nothings in his ear about him being the greatest man in the history of ever, there’s no way he’ll be quiet. But the massive egos and monumental narcissism of the current POTUS and the PEOTUS within 20 miles of each other for at least the next 4 years threaten to alter the rotation of the earth.
Dunning-Kruger Effect. Knowing nothing else about Obama, I would have thought him an incompetent twit for penning such a missive. People who excel, especially at extraordinarily complex tasks such as running a nation with three hundred million people, tend to have a deep understanding of everything they are doing wrong, the areas they’ve missed, and the negative consequences of tough decisions.
The Presidency isn’t a third-grade science project that can be evaluated by “A+! Outstanding on all metrics!” It is inevitable that any President will spectacularly fail in many areas: it’s too big and complex a job to succeed across the board. Many of the nation’s successes will also be in spite of, not because of, the policies of the President (I’m looking at you, “reducing dependence on foreign oil” – a policy whose success came almost entirely from the increased production on state-owned land).
Does the man not understand the job he’s allegedly performed for the last eight years?
This is a very good point.
I think that I’m a better speechwriter than my speechwriters. I know more about policies on any particular issue than my policy directors. And I’ll tell you right now that I’m gonna think I’m a better political director than my political director.
Who else are you going to send to blow that horn? Obama can’t help being perfect.
When you encounter this amazing confluence of arrogance and stupidity, it is hard to decide which is more annoying – the arrogance or the stupidity?

The problem is that Obama really believes this stuff. Kerry thinks he worked diplomatic miracles and is the only one who has the guts to tell the truth. The Democrats actually believe that they fixed healthcare.
Yes, this is the time to pause and wonder what myths we conservatives believe that aren’t true. But that doesn’t mean that the Democrat fantasies should be taken seriously.
I think we should treat Obama with the same respect that Putin does. That is, Obama’s a whiny narcissist who no longer matters, so why waste the effort. What Obama says about himself isn’t worth the reading.

The conservatarian club is the toughest one in the bag, especially right now if you are at all trying to stay in the game. The fairway is narrow and the left and right rough is, well, rough.

You are all missing the point… he isn’t ‘our’ president, we are his servants and should be grateful he was willing to lead us. We constantly let HIM down, he isn’t capable of letting anyone down because the only one that he could let down would be himself and that’s not possible.
And thus does Caesar depart Rome… ‘don’t forget to put up all of my statues… maybe a monument or two, even three is ok.’

Barack Obama is technically a Baby Boomer, being born in 1961, the last year typically assigned to that cohort. But in reality, he’s the patron saint of Generation Y, a.k.a., the much-maligned (and rightfully so) “Millennials.” Generation Y is typically noted for their excessive self-esteem and inflated sense of worth that came from a sea change in both parenting and education coming around in their childhoods. Gen Y is known for holding their beliefs as non-falsifiable, even when completely unsupported (or even contradicted) by evidence, and they are marked by a sense of entitlement and narcissism that is much stronger than previous generations (especially the preceding Generation X). Sound like any president we know? I fear he’s a terrible portent of leaders to come.
It’s easy to pick nits if you want to get all factual.
I will miss having a president that can speak in full sentences and does not behave like a 10 year old on twitter every day.

Are you talking about or off the TelePrompTer? Obama acts like immature ten year old all the time. It was said the FDR had a first rate temperament. Obama’s is third or fourth rate.
