The Next Time You Hear About The Popular Vote…

I still think Ricochet needs a short form section, where really great one liners from the comments can live on and be shared, or really good short form posts can be made. Distribute the stuff as Ricochet Twitter and see if we get links.

So here is an example. Two things collided into one wisecrack.

“When you keep hearing that Hillary won the popular vote, explain that Trump won the Presidency spending $600 million dollars to win. Hillary spent $1,200 million playing to win by the wrong rules. Which is more qualified to spend your money?”

Yes, this is good, as is the World Series analogy about winning at least four of the seven games, not just the most runs in the seven as a whole.

Is “Kill ’em all, Let G-d sort ’em out” too violent for Rico-tweet?  Seriously, it is a good idea.

All I tell them is that if the popular vote had been the method, both campaigns would have been run entirely differently. In addition, millions of conservatives in California who stayed home because their votes don’t matter in the electoral college system would have voted. The result is meaningless unless we do the whole election over. If we did, Trump could very well also win the popular vote. Add to that the high probability that millions of Hillary’s votes were dead people or illegals. Want to do it over, Hillary? Bring it.

I have said this over and over since the election, but we all need to remember that only three cities in this country put her over the top: Los Angeles, NY City and Chicago. She had a relatively poor showing in all but the bluest of the blue.

I loved this wisecrack on the “popular vote” topic from Maureen Dowd’s brother Kevin in the NYT:

Here is a short primer for the young protesters. If your preferred candidate loses, there is no need for mass hysteria, canceled midterms, safe spaces, crying rooms or group primal screams. You might understand this better if you had not received participation trophies, undeserved grades to protect your feelings or even if you had a proper understanding of civics. The Democrats are now crying that Hillary had more popular votes. That can be her participation trophy.

    Hillary won the popular vote

She spent 1 point 2 billion to do it.

    Trump spent only half

    And had the last laugh

She used the wrong rules and will rue it.

Um, not so good.  Can anyone please come up with a better one?  Should we have a weekly political limerick challenge?

We need a real investigation into voter fraud.

Detailed reports from the office of Wayne County Clerk Cathy Garrett show optical scanners at 248 of the city’s 662 precincts, or 37 percent, tabulated more ballots than the number of voters tallied by workers in the poll books.

I’m sure a couple of million votes were added to The Beasts total this way.

Said Hilary “I’ll be President by God.

By hook, by crook or by Fraud.”

    But the Brooklyn gremlins

had a plan worse than the Kremlin’s,

And now our President’s Orange.  How odd.

Now, this is very creative!  I think this should be the “Meme of the Political Season” or “Meme of the Year.”  I live in an area, where many people are pretty conservative and the liberals at my college don’t talk about Clinton too much.  Yes, she won the popular vote, but I would still be thinking (and I may ask the Clinton fan) would this even be an issue if she actually won the election?  If they want to see her so bad, then try to go on a walk in the woods near where she and Pres. Clinton lives.  Apparently, many of her fans are hoping for sightings for her like she is some kind of Political “Bigfoot.”

It does explain why Campaign headquarters freaked when SEIU was sending canvassers from Iowa to Michigan because they felt Iowa was a lost cause.  Headquarters probably “knew” they had already ensured a Michigan win.  This needs to be investigated, assuming it’s as corrupt as it appears and not simply incompetence (with Democrats, it’s often tough figuring the difference), people need to go to jail.  It should also end the arguing about voter identification for voting.

She actually did fairly well in suburban areas too.

Really though, I love how defensive you all are about this issue. You guys and the crazy Dems will be doing this dance about the vote forever at this rate. Trump won more people wanted Hillary to win. Just accept it and move on.

Had the USA used the popular vote method throughout history we would have had very different Presidents than what we got. There would have been different nominees, ones who would have better appealed to the larger population groups.

This would have likely resulted in flyover states seceding from the Union long ago seeing that they had no say in who would be President, and no candidate or President paying any attention to their needs. The USA would be a very different country.

As my father (RIP who would be 104 years old by now) would say, “if your aunt had balls, she’d be your uncle.”

It’s not being defensive, as much as arming ourselves for battle, which the people you supported (correct me if I’m wrong) never did much of, hence the losses. Just because your opponent is irrational doesn’t mean you should just allow them to spout falsehoods and silly hypotheticals.

And notsofast with the bolded statement. More people who voted wanted Hillary to win, assuming they were legal votes and all votes actually counted (which is addressed in the American Thinker article linked above your comment).

The Democrats are proud of their knowledge.
When it comes to the subject of pollage.
    They thought they had won.
    But when it was done.
They forgot about the Electoral College.

Edit: works better without the ‘about’.

I had to look that word up.  First, in a rhyming dictionary, because I couldn’t come up with a rhyme for knowledge and college.  Then a pronunciation video, to see if it really rhymed, because I assumed the first syllable would rhyme with whole.  Finally a regular dictionary that told me it refers to a head tax or poll tax to vote.  It does actually rhyme, and at least it has something to do with elections.

    I mean, haulage?

Bravo! In the great minds think alike dept. I wanted to use those two rhyming words but gave up, not finding a third. Let me piggy-back on yours with my idea.

There were voters said to lack knowledge

When pulling for Trump at the pollege

    They worked and used tools

    Whilst being called ‘fools’

But they went to Electoral College

You don’t trust the vote counts from the States? That seems somewhat incongruous with your assertion of a legitimate win by Trump. The only way it is a legitimate victory is if the vote count is accurate, if it is accurate we can say more people voted for Hillary. You can’t have this both ways. That is why I suggest moving on you can’t change or deny reality, anymore than the Dems can.
