It’s Official: Trump Wins Michigan

red-statejpg-68578555fcca6182They’ve been counting ballots in the Wolverine State ever since election day and finally have a certified number:

In the closest race for president in Michigan’s history, Republican Donald Trump is hanging on to a 10,704 vote win over Democrat Hillary Clinton.

The Michigan Secretary of State posted results Wednesday that were submitted by the state’s 83 county clerks on Tuesday after the votes were reviewed and certified by each county.

Before that compiled count, Trump held a 13,107 lead over Clinton. But after each county certified its results, the lead shrunk to 10,704, with the biggest chunk coming from Wayne County, which showed that Clinton had gotten 565 more votes than originally tallied by the county.

The state’s Board of Canvassers will officially certify the results on Nov. 28. The electoral college in all the states, including Michigan’s 16 electors, will cast their votes on Dec. 19.

This is the first time Republicans carried the state since Michigan chose George H.W. Bush over Michael Dukakis in 1988.

Hey, look at that just in time for a a female candidate for president to challenge the results and demand a recount.

Odd, dems usually count until they win.

Detroit used to be the automobile capital of the world. Strange that it of all places ran out of Democrat car trunks to search for extra ballots. We need Donald Trump to make it the way it used to be.

Detroit is the town where the mummified lady was still voting.  “Administrative error”?

    Yeah, like we trust that.

Still, glad it is finally certified.

Only Clinton?  How laughable.  An honest crook would have given trump 300 and Clinton 900, or some such.

But the deeper story I see is that Gary johnson, Jill steyn and Darrel castle (who?) each of whom had at least  16k votes, actually swung the state.

    Doctor Robert: Only Clinton?

Those of us in Michigan are surprised it wasn’t thirty times as many, and all for Clinton.

True, but it is hard to tell how many would have voted for Hillary or Trump were it truly binary.

I’m sorry for you, Arahant.  Here in Massachusetts we don’t need to cook the presidential ballots, which are utterly and reliably predictable.

I think I would rather have the unpredictability of a swing state than being in deep blue or deep red. It has kept me honest in voting these last few decades.

Like Hillary, she decided to ‘just power through’.

This is why I tell people I know who say “My vote doesn’t count” they must vote regardless of what they think.  If all the Republicans in North Carolina who had that attitude had voted, maybe McCrory wouldn’t be behind demanding a recount.

….. aaaand now apparently they have to immediately start recounting according to this recent lawsuit by activists in a desperate attempt to over turn the election result in favor of Clinton.
