Recommended by Ricochet Members Created with Sketch. Ricochet: In Appreciation

This website, this community has changed my life. Personally, Ricochet has given me a creative outlet, but it has also exposed me to an incredibly talented and broad range of ways of thinking in everything from politics to religion, science to engineering. I know that my writing – my thinking – is better for it. Posting here is always intellectually challenging, and I am grateful to you all for the result.

Professionally, it is no secret among the RICOe that my company has benefited enormously from the talent and experience and knowhow found here. I think I work for at least a dozen shareholders whom I met on Ricochet, and in turn at least half a dozen work at least part-time on our megalomaniacal little venture. Indeed, when speaking to a potential new addition recently, I had to admit that he starts with a strike against him, since we did not meet him on Ricochet. And then he listened in on an internal engineering meeting, and this very highly qualified and capable individual came away highly impressed with the quality of our mostly-Ricochet team.

Counterfactuals make for lazy historians, but I can tell you that without Ricochet, my life – intellectually, creatively, productively, and commercially – would be a much less happy place.

So: thank you all!

Hooray for Ricochet! And we are so much richer for iWe’s presence, truly.

I am not benefiting in quite the same way as having R members working with me (although I have had the bonuses of international visitors, a free boxed set of the Aubrey-Maturin books, and I hope to borrow a trombone from another Member), but I know Papa Toad appreciates the outlet for my mind and my sense of humor.

And I thought Ricochet was a hobby that I was wasting too much time on. Little did I know I was building relationships that have led to essentially two completely different and incredibly exciting career paths. One that uses my physics background after I figured I never would, the other which is receiving guidance to become an independent financial adviser, something I’ve long been interested in. Ricochet is one of the best things that’s ever happened to me. It’s the gift that keeps on giving.

What I appreciate the most because it is so hard to find people that are willing to listen and discuss with, is the intersection of politics and religion. For many (I would argue everyone even if they don’t realize it or view it as a religious viewpoint) of us our Religion defines our politics. I would argue there is no better indicator of politic leanings and voting behaviors than someone’s theology.

Ricochet is an incredibly valuable place. For all of the nastiness that has surrounded the election, with its’ various and sundry controversies, the people who virtually walk these halls enrich all of us with their knowledge, experiences and humor. Thanks to all!

Thank you, iWe. And certainly you have blessed all of us with your diverse collection of posts–from current events to the Bible. I know that I am enormously grateful to you and Ricochet, for everything I’ve learned and shared. What a gift everyone has been!

Ricochet is a special place. We take it for granted at our peril. (hmm…that could apply to other things as well.)

Best decision in my life was the day I signed up for Ricochet. Have not written a lot of new messages, but have certainly enjoyed commenting on others. The variety of “conservative” thought on here is always both interesting and challenging to understand, and the ability to have that without the ad-hominem attacks has been wonderful. Meeting and getting to know IWe and many others is what makes this place so valuable.

The thanks should go to iWe for posting. I look forward to your posts as they constantly open up new ways of thinking for me. At some point, I’ve gotta try to make it up to Baltimore. In the meantime, keep up the posts. We’ll all be waiting to read them.
