Andrew: thank you again for this remarkable podcast. Yours is the best on the Ricochet lineup.

I am pleased you raised the issue of Tim Kaine and his religious faith. One here has nominated him for the title of America’s Most Clueless Catholic™. As I listened to the Potomac Watch Podcast with Paul Gigot, and their description of Kaine as a “choir-boy Catholic”, I almost lost it.

The vote of Catholics is important, and I hope people wake up to the fact that Tim Kaine is more Marxist/progressive than Catholic.

Keep up the good work brother.

I find your podcast similar to the German Romantic Novel Demian. It has the most ideas per length. Some of the other podcasts are by their friendly nature rambling (Glop and the Flagship) and others focus on very specific issues (Political Economy, Bookmonger) In such an oversaturated market I recommend to keep your work economical. Leave them wanting more.

Drew, your take on populism in yesterday’s podcast makes a fine companion to Geoffrey Norman’s piece – “The Original Deplorables” – in the October 3rd Weekly Standard.

I’ll listen to the podcast but plan to watch at least a bit of the VP debates in a few minutes. I think it will be good stuff.  PS – Just got your book and read the intro – can’t wait for the rest!

    Worthy stuff Klavan!

I met you a couple years ago at USC and have thoughtfully listened to all your stuff.   Even when I have a different opinion I find your take hilarious and well thought out.

    Mr. Klavan,

Yours is now one of my favorite podcasts.  It is one of the first I listen to during my morning commute.  I often wish I had the ability to take notes when you start discussing metaphysics and religion (but driving while writing is a bad idea).  Your explanations are clear, concise and convincing.  Even when I disagree with your argument, I still find your opinion to be worth serious consideration.  Most importantly, you seem to always argue in good faith, a rare event nowadays.  Keep up the good work.

The Klavanless weekends are hard to get through, though.

@andrewklavan, you made two claims close together toward the end of your podcast (I’m paraphrasing, here):

    Race is a superstition.

Truth and honesty come before your beliefs.

Those two seem to clash, since race is real.

It struck me that, by saying it’s a superstition, you might be trying to make a poetic point.  In a future podcast, could you elaborate your claim that it’s a superstition?
