Leftist meets Black Policeman
Just in case you haven’t seen this thing of beauty.
I did my bit today. I sat with the OR resident leftists- a couple of hearts on their sleeves white folks who keep telling me how horrible Republicans are and why I should agree with them that religious people are the source of every problem in the world, and that American police love to kill black people.
Well, this black man let them have it. I walked them through the history of the Republican party, the speeches and writings of Frederick Douglas… and I was just getting started. I told them who founded the KKK, and which states in the South were for segregation and which party their governments belonged to. I kept going, indices of economy, family stability, education of black people in America and how that has declined since welfare. Some idiot in the corner piped up about how blacks in WW2 were not educated and welfare and the 60’s had changed all that. Well, I happen to have a picture of a Tuskegee P51 Mustang as my laptop wallpaper…. I waded in with their glorious history. I spoke of the honour and character of the American “Negro” at the height of segregation and contrasted that with the black lives matter hooligans today. I quoted excerpts from Martin Luther King’s speeches and contrasted them with those of Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson.
It was dead quiet. And then, I put on my Texas operating hat… and walked out, but not before saying.. “next time I’m in the tea room… we can really talk about the state of the American black.. and who exactly is to blame for his current state.”
Mic…. consider yourself dropped.

Hey, his avatar looks like a kangaroo, so why would you? I like that we can just go by other Members’ words to decide if what they say is worth hearing and not worry about their names or appearances.
That is how it should be, yes.
I do think black conservatives need to be more assertive, but other conservatives are not the audience I’m thinking of in this case. Antipodius seems to be doing fine in this regard.
I think Ann Coulter wrote a book about that – but probably not what you had in mind.

Although Australia has its fair share of leftist nimrods, from the other side of the world it is easy to notice that classical liberalism has a good base down under. Could we start a conservative/classical liberal project like the libertarians NH project? How many American conservatives would have to move to Australia to permanently shift the political table? Maybe Canada or NZ would be easier to shift?
One of the most terrible things Obama has done, is the damage he’s done to relations between the races.

Oh. Having gone to school in Oregon (United States, postal abbreviation OR), I assumed “OR resident leftists” referred to the standard leftists who live in Oregon (primarily in and around Portland).
He’s not black, he’s African-Australian. Sheesh.

I’m a 6 foot 1 , 200 pound black surgical resident. I spent my childhood in Ottawa and Rochester,NY. I’m in the US frequently for training but I’m based in Oz.

Rather be a bit vague – because I like my privacy. I used to do trauma, but now am mostly Head and Neck.
That’s cool. I did some head and neck stuff during my plastics rotation- mostly flaps. A friend of mine is engaged to an ENT surgeon, so I get to see some of the reconstructive stuff he does. I love that stuff.

To be black and conservative is often extremely lonely. Too many non whites and fellow blacks consider you an Uncle Tom( but they inevitably have never heard of HBS or read the book). Oreo, coconut, race traitor, self hater…. Been called all those.
It takes guts; that’s for sure.
I guess I either never knew or forgot about that Canadian stuff though. That changes everything.

If you’re going to shift out the leftists, start on the Left Coast. We live in God’s Country, but the leftists like to clutter up the place with goofy regulations. And oh, the combination of body odor and patchouli….
