Z in MT: This is a great graphic and instantly the feed turns into a Cruz vs. Rubio thing.

Well I, for one, tried to keep it epistemological….

    Solon:

    C. U. Douglas:This fancy graph has no effect on the left. One of my Socialist Facebook Friends posted this for discussion. He and his left-leaning friends all agreed that though the fractional representation might be accurate, they were still certain that almost all the red belonged in the upper portion of that slice.

First of all, a moment of solidarity for right wing folks that occasional check their facebook feed. Almost always gets my heart-rate up.

Interesting that they thought the red belonged in the upper portion. I bet they said that in order to get rich, you have to be corrupt.

People don’t like capitalism all that much these days. They imagine that they are above the basic human instinct to want what’s best for you and you’re people.

Well, they did concede that it wasn’t all the rich that were corrupt, and they did concede that there are corrupt people in all walks of life. They were just convinced that the graph to the right would be better served as an inverted pyramid somehow.

Also, I read stuff from my Liberal and Progressive friends because I want to understand where they come from. I don’t agree with them, of course. I’m more of the mindset of the Reagan line, “It’s not that our Liberal friends are ignorant, it’s just that they know so much that isn’t so.”

Are you trying to make a point? I am sure that you have heard of the economic term rent-seeker. If so you are being too subtle. Just come out and say that using terms like “rent-seeker” is one reason why conservatives lose the common man.

    Nice line.

I want to know where progressives come from, but I basically already know.  I can usually summarize their point of view in a way that they agree and say, ‘Yes, that is how I see things.’  They, on the other hand, cannot summarize my point of view.  They get part of it, but then say things like, ‘… and you think there should be no limits on rich bankers,’ or something like that that is not at all what my position is!

I admit, there’s a bit of my best friend’s line in my reading too. “I read it so I could hate it with authority.”
