Several religious non-profit organizations — including Christian colleges, the Little Sisters of the Poor, and Priests for Life — filed their
Obviously the mandate interferes with the free exercise of the people you mention, but from Greenhouse’s perspective, not complying interferes with the free exercise of her religion, a founding principle of which is that no one can object to or interfere in any way with the chief commandment of leftism: Everyone must be free to participate in consensual sex of any sort with no consequences. (Never mind that this is the “freedom” that is gobbling up all our other freedoms.)
Those who regard sex in any other way must be punished.
Right. No consequences for the one who desires to participate, but severe consequences for those who don’t want to be dragged along.
Amen. We need to pray for this.
We won’t see Pres__ent Obama shedding any tears for the 3000 babies slaughtered every day in this country.
The left has no clue what freedom is – I always fall back to St. Pope John Paul II who said freedom consists not in doing what we like, but in having the right to do what we ought. The left sees freedom as license to do what they like and want
Very well said.

It’s interesting that within traditional religions, including Christianity, Judaism, and Islam, abortion is frowned upon, even the chemically induced. Backing people into a corner lest they cooperate, by paying a hefty penalty is not “freedom of (pro) choice”, the term used by progressives. The Catholic Church will not compromise, and they run a lot of top notch hospitals and clinics across this country. It’s going to get ugly.
Speaking of healthcare, we signed up for a plan “we could afford”, but it is a private plan offered by United Healthcare. It is not seen as legitimate by Obamacare because it supposedly doesn’t cover mental health or pregnancy? We don’t need either, but I was told we will have to pay the penalty at tax time, even though we have coverage, because it’s looked at as though we have NO coverage?!
The health exchange clerk told us it is cheaper to do that than pay more for healthcare – the monthly amounts offered were ridiculous for our age group (50’s)! Our deductibles are $5000 per person! We did not qualify for Obamacare – we make combined under $75K – how is that possible?
Our citizens are being forced into corners while the government has found a way to rake in the dough from everyone – it’s truly obscene and there should be a revolt – where do I dump the tea???
Bruce Frohnen at The Imaginative Conservative asks if Christianity has become a religion of cowards.
As Fr. Z says:
I applaud your work Greg – you are one of those speaking out and speaking up – thanks.
I think that’s it exactly. This is about enforcing an official belief system.
There is freedom of conscience and then there is freedom from conscience. No one wants to travel the road to hell alone. Those on that road are not content with fellow travelers that have joined the journey of their own free will, everyone must join.
They are not content to wait for their own deaths to enter Hell they must establish it now and enjoy it while they’re still here on this earth.
Oregon, I think. But bring your long arm.
I filed an amicus brief on behalf of Orthodox Jewish rabbis in support of the petitioners in this case. My brief can be found at the following link.

And an excellent brief it is! Thanks Howard!
