donald todd:Pataki was perhaps running for a cabinet appointment? No one in his or her right mind thought Pataki was Mr. Popular or even Ms. Congenial.

Yeah, in addition to the money raked in from running, it also keeps your name in the news, and your financial backers… who obviously have ties with donors of other candidates… can press to get you a cabinet or ambassador post, so they’ll have someone in the admin and their money wasn’t totally wasted.

*Wall Street cocktail party* “Secretary of the Interior? Yeah, I got that guy his job. I’ve got people inside the admin. Now, about that bond issue…

Jon Gabriel, Ed.: And, just like that, Jim Gilmore shoots up a spot in the GOP Power Rankings

He’s so memorable, when The Blaze announces poll results, they stumble through his name as “Jim Gil…crest…more…land…son?”

Roberto: Both times, Pataki raised more than $1 million in donors’ money. Both times, the New York Times reported, Pataki spent it — giving to allied Republican candidates, paying for Pataki’s travels, and paying a circle of Pataki’s own advisers, strategists and fundraisers.

A Klingon would call him a petaq, not a Pataki.

Any statement from the National Podium Manufacturers Association? They’re gonna have to cut jobs if the GOP field keeps shrinking like this.

Q: Why is the Starship Enterprise like a roll of toilet paper?

A: Because they’ll both wipe out the Klingons around Uranus.

Jon Gabriel, Ed.: I felt a mild disturbance in the race, as if a couple of voices suddenly cried out “meh” and slowly shrugged.

    Excellent line, Jon.

Yes.  I fear something unnoticeable has happened.
