The Superflous Commander in Chief
As I watched President Obama’s press conference in Antalya, Turkey, I began to feel that I was seeing an historic moment unfold.
It was deceptively like what we’re used to, full of condescension, impatience, hubris, straw men and false choices. He mentioned multiple times that he has to meet every few weeks with a bunch of guys to go over details, that it’s complicated. He reminded more that one journalist that he’d already answered ‘that’ question. He diminished his critics’ understanding and motives.
But he did not look forward. He was the politician voting present. He was himself, untouched by events, incapable of even the awareness that in the days that follow the logic of those events may mark his words today as the beginning of his loss of relevance.
He seemed the least serious person in the room.

Clare,
Now you are seeing without the Obama rose colored glasses on. He is the least serious person who has ever held the office of President of the United States.
Regards.
Jim
His press conference almost caused me to run off the road while driving. I can see all his Ivy League apologists clamoring for more ‘soaring rhetoric’ disguised as his nonsensical drivel and his shameless promises and propaganda.
I’m still not entirely sure when it became declasse for the POTUS to love America.
It’s a clare day.
Plus, the world just continues to let him down. We have demonstrated we don’t deserve him, why should he even bother?
The theme of the questions seemed to be “How can you say you have ISIS contained when ISIS just pulled off this attack in Paris?”
The theme of his responses seemed to be “Because I said so!”
Only beginning to lose relevance at the very end of his 7th year in office?
Good track record, that.
Drew,
Hasn’t that been the only theme this creature has ever conveyed.
Regards,
Jim
Rush said that the only passion Obama could muster in his briefing was a denunciation of Republicans. Typical.
In view of what’s happening around the world, if he persists in his determination to allow the Trojan horse of 10,000 (and it will likely balloon up from that) “Syrian refugees” into our country, I can’t think of one reason why he shouldn’t be impeached. And if I hear one more of his spokes-robots say “range of options” I will scream.
He will not be impeached for the same reason none of his other efforts to destroy America will be opposed; There is no organized opposition.
The Islamist-in-chief will continue his march towards the destruction of America and the supplanting of Western Judeo-Christian civilization by his own, that of Islam.
Do not expect that the kabuki election will occur next November. Especially if Trump, Carson of Cruz are the opposition.
Nahhhhhh Obama would have to have the military on his side for this to happen. If he tried to overstay his welcome he would be frog-marched out by the first marine division.
Peggy Noonan on Saturday morning said (paraphrasing, as FNC has not posted the video as far as I can tell), “No one looks to President Obama for words or wisdom at a time like this.”
[Mic drop]
It’s not relevance he’s lost . . . Presidents breath and they have the ability to be relevant. It’s moral authority that he has squandered.
The change wasn’t in Obama. He responded the way he always has; with airy platitudes and misdirection.
The change was in the press. The questions that drew his non-answer answers got asked again … and again … and again.
HA! You think Obama wants to waste any more of his time merely POTUS! He’s got a World to run, people! It’s off to the UN for him (providing yet one more reason the UN HQ should be moved to Bujumbura).
Maybe now that ISIS has promised an attack on Washington, the robot press corps will start doing their dang jobs. Because unlike Obama, ISIS always does what they say they will.
The least serious people in the room are the American reporters who nod their heads and think this is genius.
The press can well imagine themselves (or their children) eating in one of those Parisian cafes. Funny how that focuses the mind . . .
He has already pronounced ISIS (or ISIL, to him, for some unknown reason) to be on the wrong side of history. What more can you ask from the man?
Soooo what do you guys want? Ground invasion?
Tell you what I don’t want . . . hundreds of thousands of military-age Muslim men freshly imported and wandering around Europe . . . oops, too late!
How about we don’t let that happen here? Oops . . .
Agreed. I made the same point on another thread. If you are male and in your 20s or 30s, you are not a refugee. Go back and fight.
The most serious person in the room.
This is incredibly important to understand.
When I read that Obama called the terrorist attack in Paris a “setback”, I was so enraged that I sent off a letter to the editor of our local newspaper denouncing this faux Commander-In-Chief . . .
He is getting some push back on that one.
With another joining:
McCrory: NC will cease to accept Syrian refugees
It would be no bad thing if a few more constituents rung up their governor on this one.
Edit:
One more on board.
Don’t worry. The Dem Govs are letting them in. They’ll make their way from Washington State to Washington DC.
If it had been any US city in flyover country, the media would have shrugged it off. Unfortunately for the progressives, it was Paris. The US media loves Paris far more than anytown USA.
The arrogance of putting civilians into danger astounds me.
Mr Obama was the MOST serious person in the room. He is doing all that he can, in the year plus two months remaining to him, to lessen and weaken and harm America. He is selling us out to Islam while steadfastly denying he is doing so and doing as little as he can, as ineffectively as he can, to create a cover. This has been part of his schtick from day 1. Why is this not obvious?
Sad and scary do not describe it – very concerned
I hope FL joins the states – sigh – Rubio – where are you?
