Contributor Post Created with Sketch. Breaking: Explosion, Shootings Reported in Paris

From the BBC:

An attack on a bar in the French capital, Paris, has caused several casualties, French media report.

At least one man opened fire with an automatic gun at the Cambodge restaurant in the 11th district.

Liberation newspaper says four people have been killed. It also reports shootings elsewhere. There is no official confirmation.

An explosion is also reported to have targeted a bar near Stade de France, where France were hosting Germany.

A BBC journalist at the scene says he can see 10 people on the road either dead or seriously injured.
He says police have now arrived.

Dammit I agree! I used to worry so much about her in Turkey and she is not safe in Paris either.

I guess none of us is safe anywhere

The BBC is currently reporting two separate shootings — a drive-by at a bar, and another shooting at a Cambodian restaurant. There are reports of an explosion at the Stade de France; the BBC cannot yet confirm this.

I don’t think this is happening in Claire’s neighborhood, but it sure would be a relief to hear from her. If any editor is in touch, please let us know!

Hope the French people and Parisians and those caught up not dead will be okay. Viva la France.

Sorry for the cheapshot at Muslims in original post, but we all know what religion these will likely be from, dont we.

Reportedly Hollande was attending the French/German match at the Stade de France but has since been evacuated.

The restaurant is also in the 11th arrondissement. So was Charlie Hebdo’s HQ.

We’ll let everyone know as soon as we hear from her.

    [Non-update: Claire’s had a long week and there’s a solid chance she’s fast asleep.]

My God! Has it even been a year since the Hebdo attack? It has only been maybe 2 months since the train shooter was stopped. If this is ISIS they seem to have it bad for France. Why so? Granted any one not subscribing to their hateful ideology is a target in theory but France seems to have come in for a lot of it lately. How come? Of course this is assuming that this is an ISIS inspired attack. Do we actually know anything specific yet?
