Bill O’Reilly Channeling His Inner Donald Trump

Mr. O’Reilly loses it in this interview, asking questions, then refusing to allow George Will to speak, and finally repeatedly shouting insults at Will to keep him from speaking. “You are a hack!”

Here’s the George Will column that drew mighty Bill’s ire. Poor Mr. O’Reilly. I think Megyn Kelly has deeply unnerved him…

Perhaps Ricochet founder and former speechwriter, Peter Robinson was part of the dark and sinister Reagan cabal and can give us some additional insight. Was he or were any of his White House colleagues approached by Dugard or O’Reilly?

He’s a hack too. Don’t you get it Brian? They’re all hacks and losers.

Mr. O’Reilly is only one of the more successful of a large number of GOP & conservative vulgarians. He is not only unimportant & uninspiring–he is mindless.

I wrote some time ago about Mr. Levin. It is a specific disease of the conservative mind that an educated man is thereby not a vulgarian. These celebrities are not damned by their popularity or vulgarity; these are sometimes good things in politics. I also do not mean they do or have done no good. But I fear they blunt the edges of serious thinking & blind many millions of dissatisfied conservatives in America to more serious options.

The confrontation between Messers. Will & O’Reilly is about the only thing right now available to conservatives & the GOP electorate as a display of the confrontation between political learning & the moralistic exploitation that always attends on movements who talk incessantly about principle. The people who talk principle so often treat in the ugliest way the people who at least partly in silence live a principled life.

All that is by way of saying, thanks Mama Toad, another good catch!

This whole “controversy” is just a gimmick to gin up his weak book sales on a book he never wrote. I think O’Reilly just licenses his name as a way of boosting sales on a book that ordinarily no one would read or take seriously.

I just loathe O’Reilly.  He’s frequently right — so is a jangly bouncing speedometer.

Fox News has been a shouty pit for easily a decade.  It wasn’t always.

That said, Will can be a real turd at times.

I haven’t seen this video (saw a headline elsewhere as well), and can;t imagine I would want to.

    — Still love how Rush calls him “TedBaxter”.

    Mr. O’Reilly

Mr. O’Reilly is not a conservative; he’s a former tabloid journalist.

If you want to talk about a cynical exploitation of foolishness among the conservatives of America–these books are a really good example. They’re almost everything hysterical liberals contemn about conservatism.

That jerk’s book titles have cheesed me for quite a while.  Insufferable turkey.  The very thought of O’Reilly calling somebody a hack is not less ludicrous for the target being George Will.

I watched this show last night with my jaw mostly hanging open in disbelief. I can’t stand O’Reilly most of the time anyway, but this was truly embarrassing.

He is a New York media personality and unable to thrive on his own as Limbaugh, Levin and others have done. He needs a big staff to keep him telepromptered up. Its funny that he would choose this Reagan hill to die on given that now even Trump has soared past him in New York media circles.

Will’s a shadow of what he used to be, but he at least has some solid history credentials (earned the old fashioned way) and then disciplined his prose and research by slumming it in journalism. He’s quite right, in this case, that you don’t float a novel thesis that upends years of research (including archival) by other serious authors and then have no footnotes for anyone to at least follow your research trail.

Which is why this isn’t a serious argument just a bonfire of the vanities that fits into a 30 second YouTube clip.

Yeah I would love to have Peter weigh in on this on the next episode of Ricochet. O’Reilly is a tool and I am pretty sure that I would trust Will’s recollection of the Reagan years than the “investigatory” prowess of a former tabloid journalist. I believe in the past we called these people muckrakers.

Is it possible to put some pressure on Ailles to fire this blowhard tool bag?

Mr. Ailes is responsible for FOX as it is. He’s no better than it is–how long did conservatives wish for an answer to the liberal organs? Well, you’ve got it, good & hard!

Sure, stop watching his show and get others to do so too.

Bill O’Reilly is selling lots of airtime. That’s truly what Ailes cares about, and rightly so.

FOX is not a conservative labor of love; it’s a business that crushes its competitors.

I can’t stand O’Reilly and only watched the re-run because I’d heard about the fireworks.  As I watched, astounded, I thought to myself that O’Reilly was jumping the shark right before my eyes.

And then he double-downed on calling George Will a hack in the closing of the show!

The guy who put his name on a book called Killing Reagan called somebody — anybody — else a hack!!!!!

O’Reilly is poorly calibrated.  He’s often right but he’s is just as confident and bombastic about his views when he’s way out of his field and dead wrong.   I seldom can bring myself to watch him any more although I caught his display with Will.   Incredible.

Has George Will gone rogue?  It’s kind of insane he’d call papa bear O’Reilly a liar on another site when they both work for the same news agency.  Me thinks George Will isn’t going to be with Fox news much longer.
