Contributor Post Created with Sketch. Not Breaking News: Lincoln Chafee Out

Lincoln Chafee

Lincoln “Block of Granite” Chafee has withdrawn from the Democratic primary race. I know you’re all shocked. For those unaware, Chafee was running for the Democratic nomination for president on a platform of metric Granite.

The Guardian reports:

Chafee, whose campaign announced his withdrawal in a statement, is expected to tell Democrats at a meeting of the DNC’s Women’s Leadership Forum on Friday morning: “As you know I have been campaigning on a platform of Prosperity through Peace. But after much thought I have decided to end my campaign for president today. I would like to take this opportunity one last time to advocate for a chance be given to peace.”

Update: We’re told that’s a picture of Fox News’ Steve Doocy, not Lincoln Chafee. We remain unconvinced

Has he asked his voter to support one of the other candidates?

Man, I really thought he was going to go all the way. It just shows the unpredictability of politics.

He spoke his mind, tried to make a difference, and I thank him for trying — and for knowing when it was time to go.

I suppose Starbucks finally got back to him regarding that barista application. Read it and weep America, you had your chance but Chafee sized talent has options.

Breaking, just coming over the wire we have his statement:

“But as I leave you I want you to know…. just think how much you’re going to be missing. You don’t have Chafee to kick around any more, because, gentlemen, this is my last press conference.”

So much for America adopting the metric system.

Here’s all you need to know about the metric system:

    A 19mm socket will do if you don’t have a 3/4″ one.

He must have read Claire’s handbasket post this morning.

His time to go was about 40 years ago…

I wasn’t aware that he was in. Might one assume that he has generated as much attention as Pataki? Less?

    “But after much thought . . . ”

As Laura Ingraham said on her show today “how much thought did it take?”

And for once I find myself disagreeing with Claire – Lincoln Chafee never should have gotten into the race in the first place, no matter what party. When Christians are being beheaded in the Middle East, when Putin is on the march, when millions of Americans are out of work, making the U.S. go metric should not be your platform . . .

I would say less. How many, “Why are you here?” comments has Pataki drawn? Chaffee couldn’t even get that.
