“You’ve not experienced Shakespeare until you have read him in the original Japanese”.
And having completed the nerd trifecta for the evening, I exit, stage right even…
No one mangles The Bard like The Flying Karamazov Brothers.
Well, no one besides The Reduced Shakespeare Company, that is…
I’m not jesting. And don’t call me Shirley.
Hi Claire.
Re: “…a group watching/discussion/reading of the great Shakespeare plays for members and their kids on a semi-regular schedule.”
What an outstanding idea!!!! After the first day I’ll always be at least one play behind, but no matter … I’m all for it!!!
As for the Lears … You wish that we say which we doth love the best?
Thank you for that link to Why Beauty Matters it was very moving.
The actor is Michael Hordern. A greatly underrated actor.
Great to know! Thank you!!
Indeed, Scruton’s documentary is very moving. I’m currently living in Montreal and planning to head to Skidmore in October to hear him give a guest lecture…fittingly enough on immigration/Europe.
You lucky man! That production of Lear is available on DVD in the UK, and I think even the US. I’m glad to see you back, and I’d like to see a debate between you and Claire on the immigration issue; plus, you should write about Nietzsche. So, get to it and fulfill the rest of my wish list.
