Carly Fiorina has faith in people. Everyone has God-given gifts, she tells those of us gathered at Turbocam’s manufacturing plant in Barrington, New Hampshire. That means everyone in the world has potential. “So why is our nation better?” Here you have a right to fulfill your potential. That right comes from God. She notes that she started her career as a secretary, answering the phones and typing memos. Only in this nation, she says, could she go from being a secretary to the CEO of a major corporation.
“Hi, I work for Ricochet.com,” I say, shaking her hand. “We’d love to have you back on the podcast some time.”
As Glenn Reynolds says, I like her. She fights.
I’m a fan, too. She would be a formidable candidate.
Thanks! Carly certainly says the right things.
I have seen her speak twice and have been impressed with what she has to say and how she delivers her message.
I loved every single word spoken by The Carly. :)
Thanks for sharing this Max.
I would love to hear her speak
Cruz/Fiorina 2016 – Stand and Fight!
Thanks for the write up. She is compelling.
If someone in her campaign is a member of Ricochet, perhaps they’d consider working the following snarky comparison: “I’ve run a business. I know what it means to make hard choices and affect change. But I shouldn’t overstate my background. I have the exact same number of accomplishments in foreign policy as the former secretary does.”
“And she would aggressively send American troops into the Balkan states to perform military exercises with them.”
Balkan or Baltic?
We’re getting close to agreeing here, Mike. :)
I should note that all quotes are from memory, so may not be 100% accurate. (Even the ones where I’m quoting myself!)
Once again, the more she talks, the more I am liking this citizen candidate thing. Thanks for sharing Max.
The more I read about her, the more I like her. Unfortunately, I only read about her in Ricochet. She needs more media. Hopefully she’s got some young staffers who can get her more online, etc.
She is the most articulate candidate in the field, substantive and very quick on her feet. It would be great if she got some traction but I don’t see that happening. Only Ted Cruz is smarter. Maybe the veep slot?
Fiorina is assertive and seems candid (believable). I like her a lot. She is very good at explaining why she is pro life.
Are you on Facebook? Follow her there. The campaign posts lots of videos of her appearances.
Thanks for the detailed report, Max. Great job. Now don’t get any ideas about joining her campaign and leaving us!
An interesting and engaging political report, Max. You’ve definitely piqued my interest. I love the yes/no vote.
Our Man in New Hampshire. :)
Please get her on the podcast again. She is great!
I think the POP (Pathetic Old Party) should go with mealy-mouthed Jeb. With him you know what your getting – Hot Air!
I have one quibble with what Fiorina is reported to have said here: this nonsense about making a statement from the White House and them soliciting responses from the general public.
“Returning to her faith in the people, she says if she’s president she’ll take her message directly to the people. “I’ll give a talk in the Oval Office, and I’ll say, ‘Do you think it’s a good idea to fire federal employees who don’t do their jobs? Take out your cell phone—press 1 for yes, 2 for no.’ ” The crowd cheers. “Do you think federal employees who watch pornography all day should be fired? 1 for yes, 2 for no!”
This is not leadership, it is demagoguery, and such suggestions are not worthy of an otherwise excellent and compelling candidate. I hope her team helps her to prune such populist distractions from future appearances.
Even so, I am an unabashed and committed Fiorina supporter. I want her to lead the ticket, if for no other reason than she has been the only candidate of either party openly going after Hillary.
Thank you, Max!
Good point. She should stick to her script of endorsing specific changes to the status quo.
I think what people appreciate is that she’s saying it’s insane not to be able to fire federal employees who don’t do their jobs.
Trump/Fiorina 2016 – “Democrats, you’re fired!”
Are you feeling ok, Mikey? :)
Well, that slogan only works with Trump at the top of the ticket. Then again, maybe you’re finally getting through to me, Lizzy. ;-)
Yes, of course, but I am thoroughly enjoying her totally professional approach to the issues.
Last weekend here in NH, Carly’s husband and Ted Cruz’s wife were at my local GOP committee’s annual gun shoot. (This is one of two annual gun days they sponsor, the other being a Women on Target event which is a great outreach method for the local GOP.) To my deep regret I was not able to go, but I understand both spouses did well by their respective candidates.
