What’s the proper length of time to keep the rainbow-themed corporate logos around? I wouldn’t want us to appear insufficiently-enthusiastic about this…Do we have to drag them out annually like winter-themed logos during Christmas?
Burning a rainbow flag is currently protected speech, though it may violate EPA smoking and greenhouse gas emission standards.
In addition to the rainbow crepe paper and table cloths that have adorned our office all week. Today they are handing out cupcakes. That’s just creepy……and a micro-aggression right?

This entire thread indicates to me a certain resilience that is heartwarming. We’ve just been knocked on our asses by two straight (or is that a micro-aggression?) days of Supreme Court overreach, and we react with humor and good cheer. Bravo for us!
Here’s one take on effects so far of same sex marriage in Canada, including a deep freeze on free speech and children being taught in school that their parents are wrong if they believe marriage is between man and a woman.
Interestingly, after instituting gay marriage in 2005, Canada stopped keeping divorce statistics in 2008 and marriage statistics in 2011.
I’m a little more optimistic in the United States. I believe that, with the main battle being won, the activists will lose steam without broader popular support.
The activists never lose steam. They only refocus to a new mission further from sanity.
Indeed. After eight years of unhinged behavior from the left, we thought they might calm down after Obama was elected. Instead they got more angry and more unhinged.
They will only grow more bold.
That’s only 2 genders down. They have 48 more genders to go before achieving full “marriage equality”.
So that’s 48 factorial different “social justice battles” still to be fought.
Yeah, no one takes those people seriously. Not even on the left.
Without the shared, popular, SSM struggle, they will lose steam. No one says cisgender with a straight face, and gays think that stuff is crazy. That struggle united them, without it, they will fracture and splinter into disparate echo chambers of insanity, or as I like to call it, tumblr.
The SSM battle started 30 years ago. It was a long, uphill battle for them. They’ll be some fallout, some changes in laws as the video suggests, but I think for the most part, this battle is over for them.
We’ll talk in 5 years time Jordan. The SSM “war” may have started 30 years ago, but they won it in the last 5 years. Crazy can become normal in a blink of an eye.

There are already US examples at the state level that could be added to this list, such as the exclusion of Catholic adoption agencies in Massachusetts by requirement to include gay couples as potential parents.

I’m pretty sure it was only Ontario that stopped keeping those statistics, as marriage registration, divorce, and family law are all provincial responsibilities.
If Statistics Canada no longer keeps those stats I wager it’s because the provinces won’t hand them over, and StatsCan has no way to compile the stats themselves, other than asking during the decennial census.

That is if you think the battle was really about same-sex marriage.
The Left has never been a friend of homosexuality – just ask any homosexual in Cuba, China, or North Korea. Homosexuality is decadent – pleasure for pleasure’s sake. Sex is for producing new workers for the proleterian state. That is why the Communist Party of America banned homosexuals in the 1950s. The Left’s about-face has nothing to do with a sudden humanitarian change of heart; gay marriage is a handy cudgel against one of the most intransigent enemies standing in the way of the Left’s total cultural dominance in America: religion.
Putting religion under the state’s thumb has been the endgame of the this whole same-sex marriage farce from the moment prominent Democrats signed on.
When the Left has gotten all the major religious institutions to bend the knee and submit themselves to government licensing – which means the state must approve their doctrines, and religion will be just another bureaucratic division of government – and when all dissenting groups are silenced, that is when the battle will be over.
That is also when this newly pulled-from-thin-air “right” might suddenly and just as arbitrarily become not a right.
