Hillary to Announce this Weekend?

Hillary-Flick2

Yes, according to Business Insider:

A source with knowledge of Hillary Clinton’s plans has confirmed that she will officially announce her 2016 presidential bid on Saturday or Sunday. This will be imminently followed by campaign travel.

A spokesperson for Clinton’s campaign team did not immediately respond to a request for comment from Business Insider.

If you are unfamiliar with the scene in my Photoshop above, here’s some context:

I guess they want to time it so that it’ll be the breaking story on all the Sunday morning political shows.

If so, it proves how far behind the times Hillary is … to think that anyone gives a damn about anything that’s discussed on the Sunday morning political shows.

Yeah, let me eagerly plop in front of the TV to endure suffer watch exclusive interviews with James Carville or Paul Begala – oh can you feel the excitement build!

In all seriousness, how does this in any way matter?

Almost all official announcements are a farce, with the decision having been made long before. In Mrs. Clinton’s case an official announcement for 2016 is exceptionally farcical as the decision was made back in 2008!

Everyone knows she is running, everyone knows she is the likely Democrat nominee for 2016 given all that how does this matter? Pro or con, does she actually gain/lose anything from it?

It seems the precise definition of a non-event.

She is beyond old news.  I’ll tune in to see if the media can feign excitement and conjure exuberance.  They’ll certainly mention her matching chromosomes in lieu of accomplishment.

Since she’s no longer the completely unassailable Heir Apparent, I wonder what her Rules are going to be for her “press opportunities”? I suspect only about half of the press will continue to address her as “My Liege”…

Can we get some sort of a pool going to guess how long after Hillary Clinton’s announcement of her candidacy it takes her to accuse Republicans of plotting to take away or cut older Americans’ Social Security and/or Medicare? I will start by guessing 0 days- it will be in the announcement itself. I think that she actually will be a formidable candidate among the lightly informed that make up the swing vote. The wife of the first black president will check every box for every client of the Democrat machine and is expecting 60-90% of the vote from women, retired people, blacks, Hispanics, the LGBTSTP community, government employees (except military), educators, environmentalists, the disabled, … the lactose intolerant, same sex wedding caterers, and people who drink tea. I say watch out!

Hmph. I’ve been telling people for the past 7 years that she’s done and won’t run again. I have been hedging, though, and saying if she does run she won’t win.

I live in a blue state, so I know the Democrats. Even the Democrats like change every few years. If we run Jeb Bush, we lose that significant edge.

Hey, whatever it takes to keep the Clintons from coming back to Arkansas is fine with me. If running for for president is what it takes to occupy that old heifer, then so be it.

I don’t think she actually made an announcement in 2008.  Perhaps she bought the “presumptive winner” idea back then, and doesn’t want to make the same mistake now.

Her campaign strategy will be to disappear until election day,  except for an occasional appearance on The View or someplace utterly friendly.

She certainly won’t take any questions for the next year and a half.

Her only argument for electing her is that it’s inevitable.

“Hillary! We might as well get this over with!”

If only for entertainment’s sake, hopefully disciplined journalists/bloggers are holding back the main load of slime until after she declares.

If it is done through Twitter, would it not be more accurate to say “Huma announces Hillary’s candidacy for president”?

Technically it was 2007, I stand corrected.

Clinton’s Announcement Makes Waves in ’08 Field

    Published: January 20, 2007

Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton’s entry into the 2008 presidential contest this morning set off rounds of e-mail and conference calls among both her allies and opponents, some of whom were shaking their heads that a major political event was happening at 9:30 on a Saturday morning.

That NYT article is actually rather interesting after a fashion, the obsequious boot licking is quite impressive.

I think I remember that she made her 2008 announcement in a video. I could do a google search for it, but that would probably involve too much caring about Hillary Clinton.

Ah, thanks. From that NYT article:

Mrs. Clinton announced that she was forming a committee to raise money for a presidential campaign in an e-mail message sent this morning to thousands of supporters, as well in a video and the statement on her Web site.
