I heard this Peter. Imagine. But I quit being shocked many furlongs back. Now I’m just hoping that O will step in it so deeply that he is rendered completely impotent, and that even his supporters will have to turn on him. He may have done just that in teeing off Diane Feinstein. Sooner or later Congress is going to become sufficiently jealous of its own power to let this continue–although that may not happen during O’s term.

    Peter,

They are that stupid and they are that possessed of hatred for their own country.  Susan Rice’s contempt for all is so evident that it defies imagination.  I am old enough to very clearly remember Watergate.  Richard Nixon and his White House team were amateurs compared to the Obama White House aggressive delusional behavior.

Obama’s foreign policy is based on a grand lie.  He can not accept the reality that six years of his Presidency have conclusively demonstrated its failure to all.  This last swap deal insanity may have finally destroyed the last bit of tolerance or sympathy for him.

Meanwhile on the domestic front the delusional lies are just as great.  Within the deep context of the economy going into yet another major recession, he will not let go of fantasy climate alarmism.  He will not let go of the hopeless notion of low cost health care brought to you by a tyrannous incompetent government as clearly shown by the VA.

    cont. from above

Both foreign and domestic disasters are carried out in a spirit of lawlessness. Obama’s faithless execution becomes more self evident every day. He is so whetted to these lies that he in fact doubles down on his abusive arrogance.

If it continues and I can’t see it abating he will force the country to finally unite and remove him from office. I had presumed that this would require a victory in the senate races this year. Now I’m not even sure of that.

    It depends on him.

    Regards,

    Jim

The only plausible explanation/strategy here is that Obama undertakes one outrageous illegal act to deflect/dilute attention and animus from all the other illegal, outrageous acts.

Bill Clinton remarked during the 2008 campaign that Obama displayed the instincts of a thug.  We can conclude that our president’s lawlessness is more a matter of flawed character than calculation.  Put simply, the president is a bully.  One might wonder why the loyal opposition hasn’t delivered a swift dose of playground justice.  The man has a glass jaw, guys.  Stop being afraid.

The government shutdown was a try. Some of the problems included

The loyal opposition was vigorously attacked by the loyal punditry (are you reading this MC?) who couldn’t wait until the play was over to start throwing bricks at our team while they were on the field.
The bully’s MSM claque set up a deafening roar that frightened the weaker members of our team.

What I found disheartening in Cruz’s reply was that there really isn’t anything to be done at this point. We just have to pray, our keyboards to God’s inbox, that 2014 and 2016 deliver Republican majorities in both houses and the White House (minor miracle) and that they have the moral courage to push back, and unwind the damage done (miracle on the order of Parting of the Red Sea).

The only reason Obama has taken the title away from Nixon is because the media runs defense for him. A media that wasn’t so besotted with their “sort of a god” would have never let the guy get re-elected.

And I realize when I’m saying that that I’m ascribing an enormous amount of power to the media.

I hope you all realize that, too.

Rescuing this country, step one: destroy the left-wing media. There is no need for a step two.

I liked Peter’s point that a chief difference between Obama and Nixon is that Nixon’s party (eventually) stood up to him. No such luck with our current Democrats.

Which is curious. Will Rogers famously said, “I don’t belong to an organized party … I’m a Democrat.” Not any more- the Democrats are lock-step right now. The main reason why Barack Obama can get away with the staggering level of incompetence and mendacity is because he has the rock-solid support of the Democrats in the Senate. To stop Obama, or even hold him accountable, you need the Senate – and at the moment, Obama has that locked up.

If Obama had any opposition within his own party, you’d expect that opposition to erode such support. But there is absolutely no rival right now. The day he made Hillary his secretary of state, he compromised his only rival. She can’t oppose him because she’s part of the same team. She owns his foreign policy outright. What other Democrat has a chance? Joe Biden – same problem.

Taking the Senate can’t get any more important than it is right now.

    Nick,

What I mean by a glass jaw is that the president tends to whine and complain when he doesn’t get his way.  It’s a very unappealing habit for a president.  I think the opposition needs to provoke him at every opportunity precisely to reveal his lack of character.  It’s true that the press will cover for him at every opportunity, but his temperament is something he can’t hide.  It’s the one constant of his presidency that is truly transparent.

You’re right on the money, Drew. The difference between Nixon and Obama is the fact that the MSM HATED Richard Nixon and couldn’t wait to bring him down. The MSM still LOVES Barak Obama and do everything they can to prop him up.

Both needed to go. One did. The other won’t.

You’re exactly correct. I was just speaking to what happens when someone actually takes a swing at the bully (to continue the metaphor).

Obama doesn’t care what the law is.  He’s going to do what he wants to do.  Who’s going to stop him?

I’m trying to think of what the rebuttal from the left would be.  Maybe that Obama has to break the law more because Washington is so divided these days and Republicans are so oppositionist?  Or maybe that Nixon’s spying on political enemies was more insidious than anything Obama has done?  I do think Cruz’s point that Obama is more lawless because no one in his party opposes him is an argument-winner, though, no matter what the cause or nature of the lawlessness is.  I also think the elephant in the room is that the Obama administration figures that if push comes to shove, no one will impeach the first black president.

Another key point is that the Democrats are really showing their colors here with regards to that, oh what was it, it’ll come to me, short document, something in there about division of powers – oh, right the constitution.  How can they say with a straight face that they value the US constitution after their refusal to even question the possibility of executive over-reach?  And now we have Mr. I Memorized the Constitution in Pre-School Cruz on our side to highlight that point.
