Dave Carter for Rolling Thunder
Ricochet’s own road warrior, Dave Carter, has his hands full this weekend paying tribute to those who have served their country in uniform. Dave’s so busy that he can’t post himself, but this morning he sent us this remarkable photograph — the one and only time that all seven of the “Ride of Pride” trucks (one of which, of course, is driven by Dave himself) were gathered together:
Dave sends this dispatch from the field:
We are leaving this morning for a ceremony of some sort at Freightliner as the 2014 Ride of Pride is unveiled … and then six of us (excluding the Canadian armed forces truck) will convoy up I-85 and I-95 to Washington DC tonight for the Rolling Thunder tribute to veterans. Tens of thousands of veterans on their motorcycles will be there as we circle the Capitol and over a million people will line up to watch. I’d love to make folks on Ricochet aware, particularly those who may be in the Alexandria, Virginia area since we will be staying there Friday and Saturday night.
If you’re in the Washington DC area, keep an eye out for Dave and the trucks. We send our best to all those gathered for Rolling Thunder and wish everyone a happy Memorial Day weekend.

Wonderful! I hope the media covers it and there will be some great video capturing the event…although my suspicions are that, considering the Veterans Administration scandal, that the media (other than Fox) won’t be inclined to emphasize anything to do with our men and women in uniform. This is one Memorial Day the Obama administration and their media minions would like to quickly forget. Any display of respect and honor for our veterans is important – especially now.
All the best to Dave and his fellow truckers!
The motorcycles assemble a few blocks from Esposito’s, my favorite Italian restaurant. Thanks to the participants for honoring Memorial Day.
Drive safely!
