Pat Sajak at the Center of a Twitstorm
I’ve always thought that Twitter has two functions: (1) as a quick & easy forum for companies or public figures, and (2) as something akin to a comedy convention: a place to shoot off your funniest one-liner in less than 140 characters. I only go there for the hilarity, and one of the funniest Tweeters is Ricochet’s own Pat Sajak. Unfortunately, some very self-serious internet dwellers are taking one of His recent tweets very seriously.
I now believe global warming alarmists are unpatriotic racists knowingly misleading for their own ends. Good night.
— Pat Sajak (@patsajak) May 20, 2014
Yeah … because the rational response is obviously to take this as an absolutely literal statement of what Pat believes. Now he’s a “trending” topic on my Facebook feed, which shows a list of articles written by hurt, offended, wounded liberals calling names, demanding apologies, etc., etc. We’ve seen this show before.
The saddest part of this debacle and the ensuing liberal rage storm? This article from Mashable listing 16 Hilarious Reactions to Pat Sajak’s Nutty Climate Change Tweet. Seriously – these are hilarious?
Yo I think @PatSajak is a crazy person. I’d also like buy a vowel.

Hey @PatSajak, this aint the Wheel of Fortune. If we lose this game, it isn’t just one person’s misfortune. All humanity pays the price.
— Michael E. Mann (@MichaelEMann) May 20, 2014
If that’s what passes for humor among liberals, I thank God I’m a conservative.

Apparently lefties are very easily amused. I guess that explains Colbert.
Ah delightful. Here’s hoping Sajak goes all Mark Steyn goes these humorless malcontents.
In a series of emails today, I begged Pat to come on the podcast this week and talk about this. Much to my disappointment, he politely declined. I can assure you though, he finds the reaction to his tweet quite humorous.
Did you see my post earlier in the week? I made a joke about The New York Times and suddenly La Raza is following me. They’re not there because of my obviously Hispanic name and avatar. I am being monitored.
Wow! Pat Sajak’s being followed by a Nobel laureate!
If you’re going to go on Twitter you need a posse behind your avatar. I don’t get harrassed much anymore on Twitter.
His tweet is pretty close to a literal statement of what I believe. Kidding or not, I love Pat Sajak.
The new movie “Chef” has something kind of profound to say about Twitter:
Uh oh. I’m afraid that very soon there will be a series of photos of celebrities holding posterboards that display hashtag wisdom.
And then, Pat will really be slammed down, right?
Neither do I.
I have an account I made private, no friends, and my tweets never go beyond zero characters.
Shouldn’t “Hilarious Reactions” be, you know . . . hilarious? Or at least mildly amusing?
Maybe I should see if I can break into that top 16 list. This is as funny as what they have so far:
“Hey @PatSajak, you’re like stupid and stuff and you’re on a game show.”
Is that Michael Mann of the “I’ll sue you if you think I’m a fraud and say so” Manns? His humor appears as impaired as his academic judgment.
No, if you want to make it “hilarious”, you have to leave a few letters out so it’s kinda like on Wheel of Fortune. Cuz that’s like, y’know, “funny”. See, Pat Sajak hosts Wheel of Fortune. Get it?
I happened to see this in some computer-welcome-screen headline (that I’ve forgotten to remove), and it showed a big picture of Pat, followed by the headline: “Sajak: Global Warming Advocates are Unpatriotic Racists.”
Interesting wording change, and I didn’t click on the article… but it did give me a chuckle.
oh, now at least that would have been clever: “hey @patsajak, you’re a st_pid _ssh_le. Do I have enough money for a few vowels?”
I can just see tonight’s “Wheel”.
Pat: “The next puzzle is a phrase.”
You know what’s coming.
Contestant: “I’d like to solve. Global Warming!”
Much cheering ensues.
Yes! He trolled Michael Mann, the most precious little twit the Warmist crowd ever spewed up! (And I’m sure I’ll get sued for that.)
Of course, if these jokers ever took time to read (or hear) Sajak, outside of the Wheel of Fortune setting, they’d know how to take that comment. But all they know is that Someone Is Out of Step With What We Believe! and that person must be destroyed.
This tweet from May 16 is looking rather prescient:

#BRING BACK OUR VOWELS
Apparently, Michael Mann can’t even spell “ain’t”.
Michael Mann, wow ! Sajak is getting cooler by the minute. You shall be known by your enemies . Doesn’t get any better than irksome gnomes like Mann .
Irony and satire are the first victims of liberalism. What Pat tweeted was sweetly funny and using the zeitgeist to rib the bluenosed scolds that the global warming cabal has become . And , as a bonus, deftly inserted racism in the mix of adjectives to softly lessen his jab. Pat was actually a bit guilty about tagging the climatistas so he leavened the joke with a touch of the absurd if case they might suffer some self- actualization for what they are . No good deed goes unpunished. No good pun goes indeed with that crowd. Witness Mann’s serious retort, complete with an aint, very edgy for a Penn professor. What a putz.
Pat works for an institute of higher education that runs circles around Penn and doesn’t find itself paying millions out each year to cover the staffs’ perversities, and ongoing milions to a lawfirm that monitors it.
Pat 5
Climatistas 0
Arm up Ricochetti , one of our generals finds himself in the social media dock.
I feel a little guilty liking this comment due to the sentiment, but unlike the responses to Pat’s tweet, it did make me LOL. Love you Pat!
Hey… I lost the ability to quote? Shouldn’t have crossed Sajak!
(was going to say @WC, if it’s any consolation, I also love Pat. But he politely declined my invitation to flyover country, too… so I won’t say I’m not a little hurt)
Global Warmmongering is the singing frog (also written by another fellow named Michael by no small coincidence) who was shepherded around by some bald guy with a moustache who was all hat and no prattle. I think he needs to buy a towel as his claims are all wet.

One of the reactions to this was an article moaning about how crazy Sajak was – and for evidence, they listed a handful of his Tweets.
Funny ones (at least mildly so).
All of them.
But he’s crazy – because he’s skeptical about global warming, and he makes fun of it and the #hashtagpolitics thing.
The author literally didn’t get any of the obvious jokes, and used that as evidence of “craziness.”
I knew it was a joke the moment I heard it reported. The fact that there is a disconnect between the issues of global warming and racism made it apparent. Apparent that is to all but Liberals.
This is the perfect timing for Pat to tweet his “interest in running for President”.
Apparently he decided to go a different route:
“Sometimes it’s fun to poke a stick in a hornets’ nest just to hear the buzzing.”
Which has resulted in the inevitable petition:
This is what happens when you outlaw bullying. Humorless nerds go around ruining everyone’s fun because they never learned to keep quiet in high school.
