Your friend Jim George thinks you'd be a great addition to Ricochet, so we'd like to offer you a special deal: You can become a member for no initial charge for one month!
Ricochet is a community of like-minded people who enjoy writing about and discussing politics (usually of the center-right nature), culture, sports, history, and just about every other topic under the sun in a fully moderated environment. We’re so sure you’ll like Ricochet, we’ll let you join and get your first month for free. Kick the tires: read the always eclectic member feed, write some posts, join discussions, participate in a live chat or two, and listen to a few of our over 50 (free) podcasts on every conceivable topic, hosted by some of the biggest names on the right, for 30 days on us. We’re confident you’re gonna love it.
Which is why you have to get on the memorial coffee train.

Getting to know the opinions of people like you is why the rest of us joined, Rachel. That, plus that gorgeous blue flower avatar! We don’t always agree on every issue but your politeness is always appreciated. Here’s to your growing family, and hopefully to many, many more Rico postings from you.
Yeah, Ricochet’s alright.
Good to have you around!
Love having you here!
Glad to have you here, and I’m pleased to watch your growing writing career.
Not to toot my own horn (I say as I prepare to toot it) but I believe I am the one who suggested that punditry would be a good line of work for you! And thanks for bringing me to Ricochet. You may regret it sometimes, but I am glad we are both here with all these wonderful people!
Rachel:
Just a little rhyme I jotted down (as in “plagiarized”). [Anyone know what a “Bendel bonnet” is?]
TR, I love this Cole Porter song and have sung it to more than a few people I appreciate! I looked up Bendel bonnet. Henri Bendel apparently ran an expensive hat store in New York that made expensive hats and put them in expensive hat boxes that are now called “iconic.”
If we are looking for a song that describes the best, this is the way to go.
Tabula, it’s a bonnet bought at Henri Bendel.
For some of you guys, that’s best described as a sort of gun show for handbags and shoes.
I fall to my knees and thank the Lord my wife doesn’t shop at Henri Bendel’s.
EDIT: I see two fellow/sister Ricochetti beat me to it…damn time machines!
Happy Ricoversary to Lu.
Thank you for your contributions.
I always enjoy reading your pieces, both on this site and others as well. I know that a great amount of learning and thought undergirds them. Keep posting, keep learning, keep adjuncting.
Good to have you (and everyone else) here.
Now, if only 2.0 would work the way I need it to, I would spend more time here as well….
wait! On second thought, maybe 2.0 was actually a way to preserve the community by cutting down on the membership participation rate? Genius!
Thanks for contributing Rachel! I believe you hit the right note on political discourse- caring/personal outlook but backed up with fact and reason. Remember to stay away from the cocktail parties, limiting your intake of the media crowd and your writing will stay more original and less reactive. No one seems to be immune to the big ‘DC Suck’.
Happy Rico-versary, Rachel! This is a beautifully written, terrific description of the benefits of Ricochet opportunity and community.
Welcome aboard! And Happy Anniversary!
Beautiful post. Have loved getting to know you through your writing. A true blessing.
