Does Anyone Else Find This Rather Ominous?

Senator Harry Reid at a Las Vegas Review-Journal event had some interesting statements to make regarding recent events at the Bundy Ranch in Nevada.

“They’re nothing more than domestic terrorists, I repeat: what happened there was domestic terrorism….There were hundreds, hundreds of people from around the country that came there,” Reid said. “They had sniper rifles in the freeway. They had weapons, automatic weapons. They had children lined up. They wanted to make sure they got hurt first … What if others tried the same thing?”

Mention was also made of a federal task force being organized all though no details were provided regarding that.

This type of attitude seems all but guaranteed to escalate matters.

    The Mugwump:

Reid has fully accepted the demonization of the right wing as a standard political tactic. Facts matter less than the hyperbole. However, we certainly have the right to ask why a sitting senator is so heavily involved in a local land deal. ……………..Republicans may not be able to unseat this senator for life, but a successful 2014 election might be able to defang him as majority leaders. Here’s hoping.

     M,

From your keyboard to Gd’s ear.  Still I can dream.  Maybe damning emails surface that directly link him to manipulation of BLM and EPA.  It won’t be hard to prove that he and his boy are profiting big time in Nevada land.  Hook it all to a phony Chinese Solar project that make Solyndra look lame and it’s time for a Harry Bar B Que.

    Regards,

    Jim

DrewInWisconsin: As far as I can tell, the only “sniper rifles” in the vicinity were those the federal government had trained on the citizens.

No Caesar: The only automatic weapons and sniper rifles I saw in the videos were held by the BLM agents.

    Happy Good Friday!
Three issues for sure. One; Harry Reid and his Family are a terrorist organization, and a nasty one at that. Two; he is doing what all psychopaths do, throw as much dust in the air to hide what the real objectives are. Three; I am very sure he wants his way on this issue, but is dam close to being thrown in jail himself, (and should be in Prison).
The entire issue is very close to the departed San Diego Mayor. Keep a bad politician in office with kickbacks, so the outside interests can rape and plunder! You were right, it is the Obama way of doing business. Funny to read all the people concerned about the rule-of-law; that is exactly the leverage Reid uses?

What would Harry Reid advocate as a means of putting down a peasant revolt in Nevada? Is there a line he wouldn’t cross? How about the President himself? Eric Holder? How far would they go? They assert the right to use drones against American citizens if they think they’re terrorists. Oh, look! Harry Reid says they’re terrorists!

Experience shows they are only limited by what they think they can get away with.

They’ve already gotten away with a hell of a lot.

    Well, that’s a relief.

Looks like an SKS variant of some kind.  Lacking a scope, it’s hard to call it a “sniper rifle”.

Tyranny is defined as “that which is legal for the government but illegal for the citizenry.”

Reid is a would be tyrant.  And his party is quickly morphing into a fascist entity.

Maybe you can explain the concern with drones.  Unmanned Aerial Systems differ from other aircraft chiefly in the fact the pilot operates the aircraft from somewhere other than the aircraft itself.  There is no substantive difference for the target of the missile is launched from a UAS or a manned aircraft.
As for targeting American citizens, enemy combatants are enemy combatants regardless of nationality.  Every president from Washington (Whiskey Rebellion) thru Lincoln & FDR has targeted US citizens during wartime.  What is the concern now?

And Reid & Co. believe anyone who would stand up to the government is a terrorist. This sort of program helps them target their attacks more precisely, and kill off fewer “loyal” serfs in the process.

Are you suggesting that Reid favors killing all the militia at the Bundy Ranch? While that doesn’t seem plausible to me, it may be that I’m missing your point entirely. For instance, I’m against the killing of Republicans in general, but if we were transported to an alternative universe where this might happen, and Reid were to kill a few hundred of them, I’d prefer it if he killed as few “serfs” in collateral damage as possible. Why would anyone want more Americans to die?

No just enough that he can make his political points and achieve his goals.

That is an uncomfortable picture, one that does Bundy and his supporters no favors. I think many Americans seeing this might be inclined to suspect Senator Reid had a point.

Though I realize that Harry Reid is from Nevada, why does what he (and his ‘private sector/lost gubernatorial race’ son)  say about the standoff warrant more/any coverage than Nevada’s Governor or other Senator? So Rory Reid stands to gain nothing but microphones are being shoved in his face and he doesn’t address the actual accusations that he’s involved in real estate manipulation and dealing? I initially didn’t think Reid had anything to do with this but am starting to reassess that.

I don’t think Reid would shed a tear if they had been killed. He’s not honest enough to come out and say it, but I think he thinks the world would be a better place if the BLM storm troopers (And WTF is BLM doing with SWAT teams, anyway?) had gunned down a few dozen of them.

Terrorists are not people you talk with. Terrorists are not people you negotiate with. Terrorists are people you kill, preferably before they kill someone you care about. Calling someone a terrorist is saying they deserve to die.
