Sailing to Gaza: An Odyssey of Idiocy

How hard is it to get genocide right?

When I say get it right, I don’t mean in terms of committing it.  I mean in terms of simply recognizing it.  And also, recognizing when something is not a genocide.

Genocide is a rather stark thing.  Generally speaking, it’s as obvious as a train wreck.  How can anybody get it wrong or fail to recognize it?

Well, that’s where politics, human foolishness, and human evil come into play.  And when we’re talking about Israel versus Gaza, most of the world is sunk in an almost incomprehensible foolishness and state of moral idiocy.

How can that be?  It’s a combination of godlessness and oceans of propaganda.  The godlessness creates the moral idiocy, and then the propaganda does the rest and… Voila! The Intifada is glamorized and globalized.  And now, all the major cities of the West, and their so-called institutions of higher learning, are overrun with Hamas-supporting, Palestinian flag-waving zombies.

This, despite the unfathomable evil done to Israel on October 7th.  And this, despite the fact that Israel had left Gaza years before.  The Gazans could have turned their country into a Mediterranean paradise, but instead, they turned it into a terror state.  Because the only thing that seems to matter to them is not their children or any notion of prosperity or any kind of a decent future, but rather, their intolerance of the very existence of a Jewish state.

To a propagandized and morally sick world — which unfortunately includes most of Western Civilization — Hamas et al. are seen as the freedom fighters while Israel is seen as the committer of genocide.  So, the evil of Hamas is abetted by the foolishness of the world at large, and Israel ends up being the singularly most delegitimized nation on earth by leaps and bounds.

And now, entering this morass of human foolishness and evil, is the one and only, most famous neurodivergent girl on the planet: Greta Thunberg. Known for her overwrought scolding of the world’s governments for their climate inaction (“How dare you!”), she has joined a “freedom flotilla” headed for the irredeemable Gaza Strip to deliver humanitarian supplies and protest the war.

This epic, seafaring odyssey is perhaps unequaled in human history, in terms of preposterous virtue signaling, that is. In terms of bravery, not so much, given that practically the entire world already agrees with this ridiculous crew of smug brats.

They are unlikely to make it through Israel’s blockade of Gaza, though, and it’s equally doubtful they will die as martyrs on the high seas.  It’s simply nonsensical nautical narcissism of the highest order.

Why can’t this poor Swedish girl, whom the left adopted as a kind of climate-whispering savant, just stick to climate? Because all leftist causes, whether logically related or not, are interchangeable.  But in this particular case, climate change and the Israel-Gaza conflict are actually related in a certain twisted way: In the collective hive mind of the left, they’re both about genocide.

You see, if something isn’t done to stop climate change, then countless millions will die, and that will have been a genocide, in effect.  It will have been caused by greedy oligarchs, industrialists, and capitalist pigs who remorselessly defile the atmosphere such that civilizational catastrophe is only (though seemingly always) a few short years away.

The fantastical, supposed climate genocide is always just over the horizon, and trying to prevent it gives St. Greta and her followers/manipulators a cause, the pursuance of which is a desperate attempt to fill their otherwise bereft souls with meaning.

Good luck with that.

And so this ship of fools, with its celebrity spectrum mascot, churns toward Gaza, a boatload of morally confused do-gooders, glomming onto the Palestinian cause as a depraved virtue signal.  And everyone on that boat, from stem to stern, is utterly without any perception that a.) October 7 was anything other than totally justified, and that, b.) the Palestinians are their own worst enemies because of their monomaniacal focus on the destruction of another people, and therefore are beyond help.

It’s amusing to think that in the not-too-terribly distant future, after Europe has become majority Islamic, there are going to be millions of people kicking themselves and asking, “What in the freaking hell were we thinking?  And why were we ever shilling for that little strip of barbarism against a civilized and eternally besieged Israel?”

But in the meantime, the confused moral tides of the world will supportively propel this boat towards its misguided destination, even as it is metaphorically wrecked on the shoals of stupidity.

We wait, as well, for an equally comical Queers For Palestine cruise to Gaza.  Ahoy, matey — and happy Pride Month!

Another excellent post, Mr. Strange. It seems this story is on a never-ending loop. I remember back in the early days of Ricochet when Claire Berlinski used to post/comment, there was another attempt to break the Israeli blockade (maybe it was a different blockade for a different reason, but they are all really the same, preventing the Arab Muslims in Gaza from killing the Jews in Israel). The claim was that the boat or flotilla of ships was bringing food to the starving Gazans. The Israelis blocked it, and that offended Claire. We disagreed on that subject. Later, the Israelis displayed all of the weapons they discovered on one of the ships that had been blocked. Our world is full of actors attempting to gain sympathy for their cause, mostly undeserved.

Yes, cdor, this is a never-ending loop.  And now that they’re literally setting Jews on fire in public, I hope the Trump administration is successful in trying to crack down on this insanity.  For all the reckless talk about Nazi this and gestapo that, the Democrat Party seems just fine in recreating the social conditions of late 30’s Germany, at least where Jews are concerned.

What happened this past weekend in Boulder was horrific. What happened last month in Washington D.C. was tragic. My wife and I both know the father of that young woman. The Israeli ambassador came to town last week to give his condolences personally. Seeing my fellow Americans exhibiting such brutal anti-semitic thinking and behavior is something I have never imagined in my nearly 80 years. Have I known some people with warped ideas? Sure, I have. But never on this scale. Also, the worst examples are in our “elite” universities. I do not know how to answer. First Amendment rights seem somewhat useless when one is the victim of those rights.

The dark night of genocide is forever falling on the right, but always seems to land on the left.

Israelis kill Palestinians in order to defend Israelis. Palestinians kill Palestinians in order to kill Israelis. The difference of intent doesn’t effect hard leftists because one side is more powerful than another.

Greg Strange: Why can’t this poor Swedish girl, whom the left adopted as a kind of climate-whispering savant, just stick to climate?

Because of intersectionality, which enables the left to link any and every cause they desire to support.  E.g. Gays for Palestine.

When they arrive they can tie up at the dock the US military so thoughtfully provided.

“Genocide” just means “people we’ve decided to care passionately (if temporarily) about are at risk.” Hence the #BLM chant: NYPD you can’t hide, we charge you with genocide…

Given the supposed urgency of the situation in Gaza, why are St. Greta & Co. making this voyage on a sailboat?

And not, say, the fastest motorized craft available?

I expect that the answer would be “because climate change.” But that just begs the question: If Climate Change is an unprecedented, planet-shattering emergency (as she has loudly stated it is) then why squander precious resources (time, money, the limited attention span of the public) on Palestine? One could, of course, ask the same question of any progressive and any cause: If the world is about to end, why spend even a nanosecond on the plight of the middle-class American transgendered? Or the less-than-two-dozen unarmed black men shot by American police officers each year? Or Roe v. Wade?  However worthy these causes might be in themselves, surely apocalypse trumps them all?

You can’t have it both ways. You can’t screech that Palestinian Babies Are Dying and then go to their rescue in a [EDIT: #$%^&!!] sailboat.

According to the Japanese it was divine wind spirits. But maybe that was just Poseidon in a kimono.
