Have Drones, Will Travel
On June 1, videos of bomb-laden quadcopters launching from trucks as fires blazed nearby spread through social media after Ukraine’s Security Services launched daylight strikes on air bases throughout Russia that destroyed many of the Kremlin’s long-range aircraft.
The Ukrainian “Spiderweb” drone attack on Russia is a wake-up call for militaries around the world. It consisted of multiple attacks on Russian airfields, one of which was conducted as far out as an airfield that is near the border of Mongolia.
Kyiv has claimed some 41 aircraft were wiped out. A popular Pro-Kremlin blogger estimated ten aircraft were destroyed.
Drones are far less expensive than missiles, aircraft, and prevent the loss of combat-experienced pilots. Ukraine might have to give up some captured territory in a peace agreement, but this type of attack is a warning to Russia that the dream of reestablishing the old USSR Empire in eastern Europe will become a nightmare for Russia and Europe.
Good. Increase the costs. Probably the only shot Ukraine has.
I like the title. That was a good show.
War of Attrition with No Human Agency. Ha!
Seeing what embattled Ukraine managed to pull off, I am feeling: let’s don’t be surprised when swarms of bomb-laden drones emerge from hiding in the farmlands the CCP has acquired near our US military installations to pummel them into dust while Taiwan is overrun. Or worse. Hope Pete Hegseth gets on this.
So the OI hasn’t managed to completely shut down RFE yet in his unreciprocated gift to Putin and XI and it’s still capable of producing useful news? Let’s hope this applies to VOA also.
Good pictorial explanation of the drone attack here.
Unreal. I wonder if the Ukrainians got a few lessons from the Israelies . . .
The Ukes have been putting on a master class in drone operations since Putin launched this war. We have been learning stuff from them.
The Ukrainians are trying to show that Russia really does want peace. Whether this was enough to get that message across, I don’t know. Maybe it helps.
