David Ignatius–not seen at any time working for the Vast Right-Wing Conspiracy–argues that more information and transparency is needed regarding the Obama administration’s actions in response to the attack on the American consulate in Benghazi. He appears to be hopeful that we might get more information this week, but I have to say that I am skeptical. After all, the Obama Administration has gone this long keeping vital information from the rest of the public and the election is just six days away. Why risk putting out new information that might make the administration look so bad so close to Election Day?
Of course, I would be glad to be wrong. I would also have been glad if liberal blogs and much of the mainstream media–the latter being filled with actors that work to fulfill many of the same functions as liberal blogs–would have put more pressure on the Obama Administration to level with the American people from the very beginning about what happened in Benghazi, and to disclose the maximum amount of information possible from the outset. But alas, much of the media worked hand in glove with liberal blogs to tell us that when it came to Benghazi, there was nothing to see and that we all should just move along.
They were wrong to think so, and they were wrong to try to make us think so. But that doesn’t matter to them. There is an election to win and the truth must be suppressed until at least November 7th.
