Talk like a normal person
Dear moderate Democrats,
First, thank you. For over a hundred years, you have resisted your party’s habit of drifting left. You were not always successful, but the country is in your debt for your efforts.
Second, a sad question: Do you still exist? You have been in the silent underground for 16 long years. Do you have any fight left?
Back then, the left of your party tried to intimidate Republicans by claiming any criticism or dissent from Obama’s policies was racist. It didn’t work on Republicans, but it sure as hell scared you into total silence. Then Trump happened, and “Russia, Russia, Russia,” and COVID gave you no oxygen or space to maneuver. But Biden was supposed to be your guy. You rallied behind him to deprive Bernie of the nomination. But after election night you were dumped. Staff, Cabinet picks, Judges, and policies went more left under Biden than Obama. You were totally dissed and you just took it.
Harris lost badly. The appropriate response is obvious. Swing back to the center. That is always your party’s response after it loses by going too far left. Your Party is currently polling at record lows. Your party repeatedly chooses the 20% side of every 20/80 issue. Chuck Schumer is unacceptable because he declined to shut down the government. The only Democrats currently drawing crowds are two avowed socialists — AOC and Bernie Sanders.
What are you waiting for? There is a leadership vacuum, and no moderates are even trying to fill it.
- How hard is it to say illegal foreign gangsters should be deported?
- How hard is it to say the border wall should be completed?
- How hard is it to say biological men should not be in women’s bathrooms, locker rooms, or athletic competitions?
- How hard is it to say prepubescent bodies should not be permanently altered in cases of gender confusion?
- How hard is it to say that a 37 trillion dollar deficit is too large and that cutting waste, fraud, and abuse is a good idea?
- How hard is it to say children under 6 should not be taught that all whites are racists and that gender is fluid?
- How hard is it to say that Martin Luther King got it right and Critical Race Theorists get it wrong — all of us, black and white, should be judged by the content of our character and not by the color of our skin?
- How hard is it to say “All lives Matter”?
- How hard is it to say that the terror atrocities of October 7 can no more be justified than the terror atrocities of September 11?
- How hard is it to say Hamas is the moral equivalent of Al Qaeda?
- How hard is it to say that any President of an American college who cannot guarantee the safety of its Jewish students should be fired?
- How hard is it to acknowledge that toxic masculinity is a myth?
- How hard is it to say that January 6 was a deplorable riot, but it was not an insurrection and harsh sentences for the nonviolent were wrong?
If you think of yourself as a moderate Democrat, the above list gives you multiple opportunities to end your 16-year silence. Continued silence in today’s circumstances leads this observer to conclude that, sadly, you no longer exist. Saying the things in the above list does not require courage. The majority of Americans agree with everything listed above. If you want to show some courage, say that Donald Trump, the duly elected President of the United States, is not a fascist, is not a dictator, and is not comparable to Adolf Hitler in any way. Say Republicans in Congress are patriotic Americans who genuinely want what is best for America. Say you look forward to working with Republicans to reach bipartisan solutions to our problems.
In other words, how hard is it to talk like a normal person?
Moderate Democrats used to talk that way all the time. The bus is heading for the cliff and there is no one at the wheel. If not now, when?
Here is one more thing ALL Democrats used to say. It has been historically proven that regulated Capitalism can lift millions out of poverty, and that Socialism drives millions into poverty.
Moderate Democrats, one last question: If your party is now controlled by the far left, and if normal people are no longer welcome, why remain a Democrat?

This kind of appeal to lifelong Democrat voters who have been snookered by the the Democrat Party propaganda messaging about Republicans for half a century makes sense. The fact that President Trump has transformed the Republican Party with support for American workers and free enterprise economics helps as well even though we lose some fake but mostly greedy Republicans (good riddance). Trump’s patriotic devotion to our nation and its people is remarkable as is his commitment to the Constitution and especially to free speech. Be thankful for the independent voters in helping get us through this period.
It makes me think of my former “Blue Dog” Senator Evan Bayh. Senator Bayh’s moderation was largely rhetorical, he did nothing to fight the leftward creep other than publish editorials. After he wrote, he added his vote to the very things he’d written against. I have seen the talk, never have I seen a meaningful act.
Even so, Evan Bayh would be reviled by the party as it exists in the mediasphere today. What is the reality? Unknowable and it doesn’t matter because prospective new party adherents will only hear a message that is uncancelled, otherwise known as the AOC message. She’s the last one standing after the purges. Good luck with that.
A MeSSaGe FRoM CHiNa…
This video tells much of the story behind those greedy former Republican voters who have now left the Party because they hate Donald Trump. I don’t think the message is a new one for Trump but rather is precisely why he is doing what he is.
We really do need some moderate Democrats in the Senate to look at what is going on in the Judicial Branch and support some action. The activist federal judges need to be reined in and those two state/local judges who have been foolish enough to actually commit felonies when not in their courtrooms have helped the case.
Over a period of more than 100 years, isn’t it possible that the moderate Democrats that used to exist, have aged out and died; and were not replaced by new moderates?
There are no moderate / sane Democrats left. There are no moderate / sane Republicans left. We are left with a choice of which kind of idiocy we choose to embrace.
But remember, that “disparity” chart shows that it’s the left that has moved much farther left. If you believe that Republicans are also insane, it’s pretty much the same “insanity” for several decades. It’s the left that has shifted the most.
I’ll add a little descriptive material to help in making that choice. I use where the two parties are now so it does not include independents.
The Democrat Party is Communist and the Republican Party is Constitutionalist. So the Democrats are anti-American and the Republicans are pro-American. Maybe AOC is the Democrat leader, Trump is the Republican leader. Neither is moderate if one thinks that means generally supportive of the status quo.
I don’t consider either Party’s members to be not sane, just whether they believe the Constitution to be law or not. The Democrats and AOC seem to be ignorant and lack understanding and acknowledgement of historical facts. Trump and today’s Republicans recognize that our direction was changed for the worse in 1913 and we need to recover.
So choose.
Not sure Republican Party is Constitutionalist (See Tariffs imposed under “Emergency! powers. See Trump in 2028). I used to be a big Lesser Evil voter. Not sure if I am willing to vote for evil at all any more. I would. like to vote for a conservative or a libertarian. If one is not available, I think I will choose to not vote in the future ( I will vote, may not fill out entire ballot). I have learned that lesser evil, is indeed still evil.
The federal government operated largely on tariffs before 1913.
Keeping in mind, of course, that not using the lesser evil to oppose the greater evil, means the greater evil has a better chance of success.
If God asks you, “Why didn’t you vote for less evil?” what would your answer be?
My answer would be that salvation is in You, Lord, not in politicians.
Mearsheimer: “The national security elite in this country were less interested in the welfare and security of this country than they were the welfare and financial security of themselves.”
My knee-jerk reaction to Mearsheimer is always to disagree, but I haven’t been able to lately.
The God I worship tells me that the natural man is evil and beyond perfection so I will always choose what I perceive to be the lesser evil.
America is in a better position now than it was Pre 1913.
Kind of arrogant to think you can finely discriminate between kinds , types, and magnitudes of evil.
You think there’s no obligation, if only implied, to try to make things better/less bad? Or nothing about “render unto Caesar” etc?
It’s rarely very difficult.
Some people say they wouldn’t vote for Trump because he doesn’t promise to somehow ban all abortion, for example; assuming he had that capability and/or that it would be effective. But he might support restrictions, etc.
Meanwhile, someone like a Biden or Harris or Obama supports abortion on demand up to birth, and taxpayer funded etc, and Obama in the Illinois legislature voted against their “Born Alive” bill.
So if you refuse to vote because neither side would (somehow) end ALL abortion, and God asks “Why didn’t you vote for fewer abortions?” what is your answer?
That’s your view of our Founders?
If I still thought one could reliably and accurately choose “Lesser Evil”, I would still attempt to do so. I once thought that way, I no longer do. Kamala was a horrifically evil choice. I am. learning by bitter experience that Trump was also a horrifically evil choice. I voted for Trump. I no longer have confidence in my ability to choose the lesser of two evils. The lesser of two evils is indeed evil.
That doesn’t tell us anything.
Please explain your accusation.
That sounds like more of a personal issue. Since it sounds like you’re not claiming “lesser of two evils” is no longer – or perhaps never was – valid, and if you thought you could distinguish, you would continue to do as before.
But are you really incapable of distinguishing between, for example, millions of abortions, and people murdered by illegals etc, versus supposedly “unconstitutional tariffs?”
You will encounter much disagreement with this view. I know many people are distressed by the tariff policy but it is not evil and probably will not end up looking like anything most of those who are concerned think. I think it will mostly go away after the trade agreements are reached, the economy will prosper, federal spending will be reduced, and the income tax will only affect very high income individuals as originally promised when the 16th Amendment was adopted.
Definitely something to hope for! And something that absolutely would not have happened if Harris had won, perhaps because too many people were unable to discern the lesser of two evils.
Were our Founders arrogant in choosing a system of self-government of, by, and for the people over a monarchy based on divine right? They did not believe either was devoid of evil influences and gave us warnings with regard to that. Democrats today do obviously believe the Founders were arrogant and wrong since they do not support continuing with our Constitution.
So Trump is going to Ban Abortion? News to me. Supporting Putin against Ukraine is truly evil.
The Founders chose a constitutional Republic. We have moved on from a Republic to a direct Democracy which the founders would have indeed found evil.
I have no confidence that Trump’s tariff gambit will do anything other than make America and Americans weaker and poorer. If I am wrong I will indeed be pleased. Early indicators are that Tariffs will weaken America and encourage lobbying and corruption.
The left eats its own. Haven’t we noticed how everything the left touches turns to poo? Well, don’t get too close, the Democrat Party is immersed in stink. It’s the rotten stink of cancel culture. And their own “moderate” center has been infused. Grandpa, you do an excellent job.
