Musk / Tesla = Nazi?

I often miss background information that explain cultural phenomena.

This might be the case with the “Elon Musk is Nazi” and its derivative “Tesla cars are Nazi” ideas that seem to permeate large segments of American society.

So perhaps the Ricochetti can explain this to me.

Where did the association of Elon Musk and Nazis come from? What is the basis? What did Elon Musk do (or is he doing) that represents Nazi philosophy or practice?

Is it because he grew up in South Africa? And apartheid is supposedly just like Naziism?

Or is it based on the assumption that making government operations more efficient (DOGE) is akin to creating the Third Reich? If so, how?

The simplistic (but impolite) answer is that leftists don’t engage in rational thought, and that “Nazi” is just the universal term of hate to direct toward anyone you don’t like, now that “racist” has lost its sting.

But perhaps I missed something.

What makes Mr. Musk a Nazi?

Help me understand.

Musk and Tesla are Nazis because the Left doesn’t like him any more.  Simple as that.  Nazi is what they use.

Trump wasn’t a Nazi either, when the Left liked him.  Now they don’t, and so he’s a Nazi.

The trope really took off when, in expressing gratitude to his audience at some speech he gave, saying “my heart goes out to you,” Musk waved his right arm upright at the crowd, which of course immediately translated into a thousand memes of his “Nazi salute.”

And meanwhile you’ve got some people selling their Teslas and proudly buying Volkswagens, a company which actually was founded by Nazis.

Although I quite like the new Volkswagen I bought about 18 months ago.

And I’m willing to overlook prior views if a person or entity seems not to maintain those prior views.

My sister actually did this.  (!!!)

She even posted on Facebook recently, quote: “Dumped the swasticar last week. Elon, you’re fired.”

And she traded it in for a Porsche Macan EV.  (Porsche is owned by Volkswagen AG.)

And yeah… Ferdinand Porsche was an actual Nazi.

Many people pointed out that it looked like a Nazi Salute.   Which it kind of did,   although if you were paying attention the “my heart goes out to you ”  explanation makes way more sense and is more plausible.   I think “Nazi Salute” explanation  was a combo of wishful thinking and throwing spaghetti against the wall.

As others have stated,   the current meaning of “Nazi!”  is I don’t like you or that.

Ford also was associated with Hitler.

Somehow,  I suspect the current management of Ford,  Volkswagen ,  and Tesla are mostly focused on making cars at a profit.   Hitler was a long time ago.   It would have been good if Communism had had to face the reckoning than Fascism did.

This goes back to Germany in the 1920’s, when the Communist party and Nazi party were battling for political control.  To Communists, anyone that opposes Communism is a Nazi.  One of the direct action groups of the Communists is the Anti-FA terrorist.  Communists and Marxists dominate the discourse on America’s Left.   The Marxists folks call everyone a racist, transphobe, misogynist,… or whatever divisive term they have handy.

I agree with the second part of your comment, but disagree about the first. Ford was anti-Semitic, and did a lot of damage, but he wasn’t associated with Hitler

Well I’m also baffled by the bases for the claim that Trump is a Nazi. He does have authoritarian tendencies, but no more so than many other politicians, including Bernie Sanders and Hillary Clinton. Also authoritarian is only one part of Naziism.

These Tesla sellers remind me of the big SUV sellers, who claimed their truck was killing the planet. Hey genius, if you sell your gas guzzler to someone else, it’s still out there killing the planet! You have to man up and destroy your gas guzzler.

And if these are NAZI vehicles, and therefore evil, and you think destroying Tesla is a good way to get back at Elon, then you’ve got to show everyone your true virtue and have your Tesla crushed.

Maybe you can pick up a cheap Denali.

My lefty son in law casually made the comment that it was ok to “punch a Nazi”.  He was shocked when I pushed back.

I pointed out that the left just brands anyone they disagree with a Nazi.   And gave him example after example.

Easily the best example of the hard Left being trained seals who have been cult-like programmed to turn on a dime to hate and demonize an individual who only a few years ago was an Eco-savior in the Left’s quest to rid the world of fossil fuels and save the planet Earth.

Now Musk is worse than Hitler and his most ubiquitous of electric cars must be destroyed ….. and that whole saving the planet Earth thing, that is so yesterdays Lefty talking point … all because Trump!

Communists created the fiction that fascists were ultra-right.  Fascists were just not as far left as the communists.  Its leftism is even in the name, folks.  How is the National Socialist German Workers Party far right?
