What’s Going on??

I keep reading about some “Boycott The Economy” thing for February 28. The idea is to not spend any money this day in order to protest Pres. Trump’s actions to eliminate DEI initiatives from the government. Many companies are doing away with their DEI elements also because of his influence, and “people” want to complain. The idea is for no one to go shopping that day and have a serious impact on the economy of the big box stores and online sales so that these entities will know that “The People” support DEI and not DJT.

To me, this movement away from DEI is more like people finally shaking their heads and giving themselves a little smack on the cheeks to clear their brains. It’s like we’ve been under a spell, and Trump’s latest election is the release from this.

When I see these announcements about the February 28th Economic Blackout, it actually makes me want to save up my shopping just for that day so I can oppose the opposers. What have you heard or read about this? What do you think?

The date was listed incorrectly.  The day of the boycott is actually Feb 29, 2025.

    no problems!

A Facebook friend posted something about this a week or so ago.  I scanned it and remembered a similar “Buy Nothing Day” when GWB was inaugurated the second time.  It was dumb then and dumb now.

I muted that FB friend for a month.  I’ve been doing that a lot lately.

I can wait until then. Thanks for the heads up. I have several things to buy that day now.

I think of it as an Emperor-has-no-clothes moment.   It is like some people felt gutsy enough say “The Dems are crazy and I’m voting for Trump.” and then a whole bunch of people started saying obvious things out loud.  Things like “men are not women” and “DEI is racist and wrong” and “the economy is not good”.   A few years back, we would have said that the Normies got red-pilled.   Either way, the spell is broken for middle of the road folks.

You may laugh, but you’ll be sharing a jail cell with that guy who told Dems that a special day had been reserved for them to vote on the Wednesday after the election.

I look forward to spending a DOGE “rebate.”  ASAP.  I know many people are not “tired of winning.”  But a lot of other people might get kinda bored, though.  Which is one reason why DOGE “rebates” would be a good idea.  Sure, borrowed money used to issue “rebates” is still borrowed money, but using that to “pay down the debt” in such a small portion, might feel good for a little while then lead to a drubbing in the mid-terms or in 2028.

With the way prices are,   more days should be Buy Nothing day.   Pay off bills & debt,  save money, and invest until the current turmoil is over.    Not a political statement,  a self preservation statement.

Are they targeting any specific companies for particular ire? If the media makes enough fuss, the stock could dip for a day or two. I wouldn’t want Soros and Buffet and Gates to be the only ones benefiting from a buying opportunity like that.

Only the stores where leftists shop will be temporarily ‘hurt’. Leftists still want their stuff, so they’ll just go out on February 27 or March 1 to get the things they would have gotten on the 28th.

Those stores know who they are, so they could just cut staff for that day and no damage done, except to the part time employees who could lose some hours and needed pay.

That’s what I’m thinking.  I won’t buy something just to buy something, but if it occurs to me that I need something in the next week or two anyway, may as well make the purchase on February 28th.

I hate to give encouragement to lefties who think they can affect the whole population with their silliness, with any reaction at all. Especially if it has anything to do with DEI of all things. Good grief, I thought we all agreed that racism is bad; why do they insist we continue with it?

Besides, February 29 is my wedding anniversary, this will be the first one. I’m going to have other things on my mind.🥰
