Governor Dares ICE to Enforce the Law

In remarks to the news media, New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy (see right) implied that he and his wife are harboring an immigrant in a room above their garage who may be an illegal alien. “And good luck to the feds coming in to try to get her,” Murphy said.

Are armed New Jersey state police protecting the woman in question? Is there an implied threat of armed resistance here? As far as I know, a governor’s residence is not like an American embassy overseas. It can be searched with a warrant signed by a magistrate or judge (see also the FBI raid on Mar-a-Lago). If the woman in question is an illegal alien, especially an illegal alien with a deportation order, and Governor Murphy and his wife are knowingly shielding her from ICE, then they are breaking federal law. This may be the opportunity for the new administration to stand behind its FAFO policy. Contrary to declarations by Democrats who turned a blind eye to the criminal acts of the Biden family, they clearly believe that some individuals are indeed above the law.

An ICE raid on the governor’s home would certainly be “must-see-TV”. I have the necessary popcorn on hand to enjoy the festivities. Perp-walking and booking the governor and his wife for violating federal immigration law would be delightful to see.

Dear Tom Homan, please make this happen.

As NJ resident I can report that our Governor usually winters at his Italian villa … a 23 room mansion north of Rome.    It’s good to be a gazillionaire.   So … entertaining as it might be … I doubt ICE would find him at home.

Who put the tennis court  that far from the house? And where’s the formal garden? Probably laid out by Michelangelo Buonarroti’s cousin Tony.

They’d have to rifle through his wife’s underwear drawer while they were there, right?

It would be a lot of fun, not to mention a shot across the bow, for federal agents to show up with some questions for his tenant and some handcuffs for him if it turns out he was knowingly and boastfully harboring an illegal immigrant.

They could extend her every courtesy while either helping her with her paperwork or escorting her to the border, depending on her status and situation, and at the same time lock him up pending a review of his case—an admission of a crime—which could be arranged in a few days.

Just keep running your mouth, pal….

It might depend on which side has the best PR machine and the fewest idiots to mess up the message.   I could see it going either way.

I’m pretty sure most Americans would approve of deporting an illegal, unless it’s done in a  really bad way like we haven’t yet seen, but the rest of it could get dicey.

I agree with ‘enforce the law,’ but do they even have a name for this person? With the name, they can determine a person’s immigration status etc. How do we know the governor isn’t just trolling the new administration for laughs? From the article, it seemed as though the person didn’t initially have a fixed abode, and given the news coverage, I would expect the governor to put the person up at a random motel temporarily. I seriously doubt that ICE moves on rumors that an illegal happens to be at any given location. Most of the people they’re deporting have been on their radar for months if not years. This story is for Dems entertainment and for tweaking Republicans.

Yes, but, my point was that just because they MIGHT BE paying their taxes etc, doesn’t get them off the hook.
