Is Your Gun On This List?

Don’t answer. I don’t want to give the government a head start on making a federal registry of – you.

A hat tip to the Daily Caller for publishing the photo.

It’s a list of the guns Senator Feinstein plans to make illegal, apparently so a criminal on his way out to shoot someone will say to himself, “Wait – what am I doing? This gun is illegal. Darn it! Now I can’t murder that guy.”

You have to give her credit for researching the names this time. Previously she had no idea what the guns were and so made stuff up – like pistol grip, bayonet mount, flash suppressor, etc.

My gut feeling is that the Left is out of control – as they so often get. They are getting really nuts over this, and I think a far larger segment of the nation is seriously NOT with them.

But we shall see. In the meanwhile, keep writing to your reps. You can go to the Ruger site and send a form letter to everyone who represents you. I do it a couple times a week. I figure volume is far more important than specific content.

Just for my edification, is there a big problem with “belt-fed semiautomatic firearms” being used to knock over convenience stores?

I have over ten weapons on this list.  All are currently legal because I do not break gun laws, ever.  So if they become illegal should I roll over like a wilted lily or kill the cop ( now a jackbooted thug) who comes to my door?  I will not participate in a national registry.  I will not wilt either.    It’s jail or death for me then senator.   I’m sure you’d like it to be jail for all those who fight this.  Come try me, I’m easy to find, but I’m still very fast.

A slow connection makes searching difficult, but doesn’t another part of the bill ban import of any semi-automatic handgun capable of accepting a magazine of more than 10 rounds and exhibiting one military characteristic?

IIRC, all Glock barrels and slides are still made in Austria and everything from at least Gen3 on has an “accessory rail.”

    Hmmm…

Good news!  If the list is complete my future plan to purchase a Valmet M-78 is safe!

In other reflections, a Beretta CX4 Storm?  Shouldn’t they want that sort of gun, since it’s basically a huge, non-concealable pistol?

If they’re that worried about converting it to full-auto, I can have a Beretta 92F converted to full auto (admittedly it would be illegal to do so) if I found the right gunsmith.

Not that I think it will happen, but don’t you think that if they actually wanted to implement confiscations that some governors would object, and materially so? I don’t know about Nevada, but certainly TX.

The gun I want is on that list.  I just hope I can save up enough money to buy it before it gets banned.  If they come to confiscate it, well, I lost all my guns in a tragic boating accident.  Or all my boats in a tragic gun accident.  Something like that.  Yeah.

so the VEPR AK-style rifle would be banned, but not the VEPR AK-style shotgun?  However, Saiga AK-style shotguns are banned?

What would prevent the companies from just changing their names, the model names and then a few cosmetic features and re-listing them for sale again?

Oh, and a national registry?  <insert your favourite COC violation here>

I’d like to know how those who think they can so openly violate the American populous and their laws think they’ll simply be able to achieve it or simply remain alive and unbound?  Do they not grasp that these are fires of war against a nation that they are fanning?  Do they not think that the populous does not recognize this and is keeping tabs of every neighbor, co-worker, politician, bureaucrat, and worker that is proposing heinous acts of violence against the people?  It is one thing for militaries to have rules of war, but a whole population of people have no such bounds, outside of what their conscience or creativity permits.

These fools do not grasp that their every word is as a bellows to a giant fire that will consume them should they continue to blow.  Our own southern neighbors, the good people of Mexico are now forced to take up arms against criminals and against their unjust laws to simply keep themselves alive and unmolested to live in peace.  If these who have been conditioned to be tread upon for decades are willing to fight, will we not do the same?

I don’t understand how you can write legislation that bans certain specific named items and also “x type” items. Don’t you have to define characteristics shared by all the banned items, so people can know beforehand what’s against the law?

This almost reads like a “private law”–like a bill of attainder, a law directed against specific things not classes of things.

Feinstein’s list is a direct and inevitable result of “reasonable” gun owners, or their elected representatives, indicating that some “sensible” concessions might be accepted.

It’s in the nature of leftist thugs that, if all of their demands were acceded to, they would be back the following day with a longer list.

Gun owners should be making lists of their own; of politicians who need to be replaced (like diapers).

anonymous: I note that the M1 Garand is not on this list.  If you are a U.S. citizen, you can order your own exemplar of this superb main battle rifle from the Civilian Marksmanship Program .

General George S. Patton said, “In my opinion, the M1 rifle is the greatest battle implement ever devised.”

Here is an appreciation of the M1 in a time of darkening horizons and constrained choices.

If you don’t want to contemplate an ugly wound on your thumb in survival conditions, here’s a little gadget which will make your M1 more user friendly. · 15 hours ago

Way ahead of you.  I already have mine and she is beautiful.  It’s funny that because the M1 only has an 8 round clip that it is not considered an assault rifle.  How long does it take to reload and M1?  About two seconds?

If I lived in the US, out in the countryside somewhere, I think I’d be spending some money on some good used M1 and some other surplus rifles, then I’d buy some Cosmoline, some lengths of 6″ PVC pipe and end caps, and make a couple of weapons caches here and there.

    Maybe I’m just paranoid….

Well, it’s getting harder – and more expensive – to buy M1’s. Springfield quit making them, so the source of new ones has dried up. Older WWII and after models are now “collector” guns. Even ammo is difficult to find (at least the original ball).

All AR models?  What’s wrong the AR-7?  Though I doubt the senator would know the difference between an AR, an AK, or a Mosin-Nagant.

The M-N’s are more common, and still relatively cheap, although ammo is a bit harder to find (unless you reload), but both of those choices are a distant second to an M1. They do fire a serious battle calibre, but the M1 simply outclasses them in a huge way.

There are any number of wonderful rifles out there, with Remington 700’s and Winchester Model 70’s probably a better choice than the Enfield or N-G. But if you are looking at 2A for its original intent, none of these meet the criteria nearly as well. They might have back in 1900, but not today.

Not M1A’s, but M1’s. Garands. Springfield first made its name, I believe, by manufacturing frames for Garands, then adding barrels and the rest to sell Garands. Later they got into the M14 business, and now only sell that line, in the various permutations that they have.

I think Fulton Armory still sells Garands, but like everything from Fulton, they are pricey. But they are really nice, too.

I agree that the M1 is the WWII battle rifle, but if they are getting hard to come by, I’d rather have say three Lee Enfields in a cache than just one M1. If I was doing a cache, I’d certainly have the ability to reload.

All a moot point for me.
