The brilliant strategy of antagonizing your own supporters
In an effort to connect with the core demographic that has been supporting their sales for decades, Bud Light launched a national ad campaign led by famous trans-sexual Bud Light aficionado Dylan Somebody or other. Surprisingly, this ambitious plan was not entirely successful. As it turns out, there are some Bud Light drinkers out there who are not trans-sexual. This obviously came as a shock to the Bud Light marketing department, all of whom are apparently narcissistic fools who have been completely sheltered from American society, or recent college graduates.
Budweiser lost over $1.4 billion in sales and half of its market share. They’re still trying to salvage what’s left of their company.
Inspired by this resounding success, Jaguar has launched an ad campaign in an effort to connect with the core demographic that has been supporting their sales for decades: trans-sexuals. Observers are waiting with bated breath to see how this might turn out. Is it possible that some Jaguar buyers might take the same view that Kid Rock did to the Bud Light trans-sexual beer campaign? Hard to say, I suppose.
Aston Martin appears to have a better understanding of who exactly they are selling cars to. Even when selling used cars. Check out the message in their ad below, promoting the sales of used Aston Martins: “You know you’re not the first. But do you really care?” Now THAT is marketing. [Editor’s Note: The Aston Martin ad is fake. If you look closely the type says “Pre owed” not “Pre owned.” The picture is taken from the January 2021 German Playboy. The tagline, however, is from a real car ad. BMW used it in a 2008 campaign. Update: Aston Marton is issuing takedown orders to websites republishing the parody. The image has been removed.]
And while I’m sure their marketing department is interested in shaping cultural norms, they apparently are more interested in selling Aston Martin cars. A motivation which would seem to mystify the marketing departments at Budweiser and Jaguar.
I really think this is how Democrats lost this recent election. They simply forgot who their supporters are.
Which is understandable, since I’m not completely certain who their supporters are, either. Democrats were once the party of the working class, but now they are openly contemptuous of anyone who does not have an advanced graduate degree. They’ve done nothing to help Blacks or Hispanics, as those groups are starting to figure out. They still claim to support the very poor, but the very poor don’t vote. Which leaves the very rich, and there are very few of those.
So Democrat ads tend to look as ridiculous as those of Bud Light and Jaguar. They don’t make sense, because they don’t understand who their base is.
And neither do I. And neither does anyone else.
Budweiser is desperately trying to return to its previous business model, which worked so well for them for decades. If Jaguar succeeds in destroying itself, I suspect it will do the same thing.
But I can’t imagine the Democrat party returning to its blue-collar roots. The cosmopolitan elitists in charge would never permit that. On the other hand, the Democrat party obviously can’t stay like this. This is not working.
In the next election, the Democrat party will look a lot different than this. I’m not sure what it will be. But it won’t be this.
Surely.
Nothing focuses the mind like losing. It will be interesting to see where the Democrats go from here.

My recollection was that they never got as far as rolling out the Dylan ads. An announcement, a couple of publicity photos, and some interviews were enough to incite the response.
Back in March, Jaguar announced suspension of manufacturing.
There will be no 2025 Jaguars.
This AD is just a ploy to keep the Jaguar brand alive in the minds of consumers…IF we’re not discussing Jaguar it’ll cease to exist … And will have a much more difficult time emerging from hibernation in 2026.
It’s been my impression that gay bars are not “the scene” for transsexuals. Because homosexual men are “interested in” homosexual men, not men pretending to be women or even getting surgery to enhance the delusion.
Except I guess for totally screwed-up people like “comedian” Jim Norton.
The news gets even worse. After 5 recalls (since May of 2023) Jaguar is buying back its iPace SUV: (about 3000 cars)
On the plus side, I guess, if they’re going to go more upscale/limited-production in the future, that means fewer cars to recall.
They’re ending 5 models this year. The XE, XF, F-type, EPace and IPace are ending or already have ended production…
Right, they stopped ALL production and they’re supposed to be going all-EV starting in 2026 or so they say.
I guess they don’t know about EVs catching fire.
I’m pretty sure they knew they were losing. Their internals showed them as much. But if there’s anything you can say about the Left, it is relentless. I think their timing was off and was driven by the mental decay of their front man, who then sabotaged their chances at a viable candidate by 1) choosing to run for a second term and 2) endorsing Kackles within hours of being forced out, to the consternation of the Obamas and their party apparatchiks.
But we should avoid triumphalism, since the Left has captured the commanding heights of practically all our civilization-creating institutions. They’re poisoning the minds of our children from pre-school through graduate school. This is at the base of their strategy and our danger. Mr. C has been saying for years that Republicans need to make school choice one of their top 3 issues. I’ve gone well beyond that in believing the public “education” system must be utterly destroyed. No one who loves their children (or grandchildren) and wants what’s best for them should be subjecting them to these cesspool schools and their leftist mind-hive administrations. Kids would be better off un-educated and running through the woods than the receiving the lefty indoctrination occurring in public schools and 99% of universities. Fortunately classical charters are extremely popular with parents and are becoming more commonplace, but there’s a long way to go.
The Left’s march through the institutions has been wildly successful and, if their timing had been better, in maybe 8 or 12 years they might have achieved their goal of “fundamentally transforming” the US into their own sick and twisted image for “good” (forever). Donald Trump isn’t the only one who dodged a bullet. . .
As for Democrats’ false promise of helping the poor and disadvantaged, I like this guy’s analogy of the “mixed economy test tube.” There’s no such thing as a pure socialist or pure capitalist economy. But we know if you add more market and stop adding more state to the test tube, both the rich and the poor become richer (the Republican/conservative model), whereas if you add more state, the rich become richer and the poor become poorer (the Democrat/progressive model). The historical and recent examples are manifold. He goes through them in the linked video.
This needs to be drilled into the voting public constantly and forever. Democrats only care about the poor and disadvantaged to the extent they can exploit them to concentrate power in government — thereby enriching themselves. The incentives for Democrats is to keep people down — preferably with a government boot on their faces.
The Jaguar campaign is especially problematic (to culturally appropriate a favorite lefty term) because it is part of a larger campaign to celebrate a weird collage of “identities” and to bow to the demand that nothing else is permitted to command equal attention all the while doing so with complete indifference to the product and sponsoring corporation. Jaguar is instead expected to be thrilled with the honor and privilege of providing this platform.
It is reminiscent of the knock on homosexual activists that “the love that dares not speak its name just won’t ever shut up.”
The sheer narcissism driving so much of this is offensive and self-limiting. And that is why Democrats will have a hard time regrouping. Self-reflection, honest self-criticism and an openness to the views and interests of others are precisely the qualities that went missing in the first place. Harris invited (commanded?) us to acknowledge the enlightened wonderfulness of the left despite the wreckage it leaves in its wake. Much more than a few policy changes and messaging tweaks will be required.
The one path to lefty salvation that needs to be shut off is to avoid the example of the Tories in the UK –being so incompetent, unprincipled and brain-dead so as to lose to an unreformed left.
Canada is an even starker example. Taxing it’s population into poverty, on the false promise of better weather in the future.
I don’t care if anybody is gay or cross-dresser or whatever. To the extent you can help it don’t make a big public deal about it. The concept of “gay marriage” is ridiculous and I can’t believe the legal system shoved that down everybody’s throat, but I’m not an expert. If they want to have state recognition of the type of household they have then fine.
This hasn’t happened yet, but I read a very compelling argument about how gay marriage was going to open up to polygamous marriage. The FLDS is 50,000 whack jobs in North America, creating all kinds of problems.
American light beers, with their low alcohol levels, are boon companions for fishing and boating, striking a precise balance between hydration and buzz.
Nectar of the gods at a bait shop near you!
Bud et. al. are feeling a pinch from craft breweries which draw people of various ages and backgrounds (even women!) to a venue they cannot penetrate. Worse, once people think of themselves as craft beer drinkers they start to avoid standard American beers. Even more worser: some start checking labels to make sure the aren’t buying a craft beer that has been bought out by InBev.
Desperate times call for desperate ad campaigns?
Re: The Aston Martin ad: Given prices and loan terms these days, I think the term “pre-owed” might be rather apt.
Bomb the Eccles building.
Inflationism is the dumbest thing we have ever done to ourselves.
Inflation dictates that we need to steal from government to equalize it. Drop in inflation and the libertarian and conservatives will get traction.
Stop
Inflating
The government money they force us to use.
What about unionizing public
servants“workers?” That was pretty dumb.Government schools are worse than worthless. They aren’t a public good. Cut a check to the parents. The aggregate value would go straight up.
This forum has one rabid inflationist. He never says anything when I go off on it anymore. lol
If you want conservatism and libertarianism to take off, just measure inflation properly and set it at less than zero, which is the way God intended man to live.
Trade and automation create deflation, which makes everybody better off.
Inflation is about government, militarism and the fractional reserve banking system.
Blah blah blah. I realize nobody gets it, but I get it.
And yet you seem to understand that we need “militarism” because of China, etc. So how can we not have inflation?
Sure it should be low, but that’s not the same as non-existent or the reverse.
I know, but does it look like anybody in the ruling class is properly managing it? 2/3 of the country has its back against the wall. Everybody is complaining about socialism and populism.
Your move.
Trading with the Chinese mafia was the dumbest thing we ever did. We could have imported deflation from anybody that isn’t globalized mafia. Even dumber is we import deflation within the Fed creates inflation.
Discuss.
We should have given the Chinese mafia food and fuel and left it at that.
I’ve never thought of deflation as a good thing. Wasn’t the prolonged Great Depression a result of a tight money supply? You’re obviously a student of this stuff (I’m just a midwestern housewife with strong opinions — my handle in my next life MWHWSO), so maybe you can explain it in a post. You have to hurry, though. My membership expires 12/1, so unless it gets promoted to the Main. . .
Trade and automation create deflation. Then the Fed tries to fight that for some reason. It’s stupid.
They do it because of militarism, and the fractional reserve banking system require it, but they are too stupid and corrupt to manage it.
Also, don’t leave. I can’t imagine why you would leave.
You’re very kind. I just can’t contribute posts to a site that lacks troll control. Heck, I may even resurrect my blog where I am the master of all I survey. . .
Also, I’ll be hanging out with other exiles. PM me if you’re interested.
There are two kinds of deflation. What happened in the depression was like a parking structure collapsing on itself.
I’m talking about the mild deflation that comes from trade and automation. Really? You’re going to get in the way of that? Why? You have all of these poor people on the planet and all of this fallow ground and all of this printed money. It’s natural that prices would go down, except for the fact that the whole planet is choking on the debt created from the inflationism. Inflation creates debt and then they pay it off with more inflation, until it all collapses.
Then by your own standards you should drop the “deflation” argument and stick to low, measurable inflation.
