New Avatar, New Resolve

Those who have followed me know that I have changed up my profile image from time to time. I have done it again. The fighting lion in red and blue with white stars was a suggested update of the Republican elephant with the same color scheme.

On X.com it was recently posted that the Democratic Party is dead. Oh, that that were true. But the reality is that there is a political realignment underway with a large majority of Americans today not feeling comfortable with either the Democratic Party of today or the Republicans pre-Trump. Greg Gutfeld references the “pirate ship” feel of Trump’s incipient coalition government.

It’s going to be quite a ride. Hopefully not like Slim Pickens riding an ICBM to oblivion. But most Americans sensed that the direction of the country had shifted from bad to dire. And so it is that the public has arisen, seemingly ready to fight for our country, within our country. And that calls for a branding change.

So, here it is:

Meanwhile, it’s only fair for the realigned Democratic Party to get a new animal avatar as well.

I propose the … Oozlum, a bird the principal characteristic of which is that it “will take off and fly around in ever-decreasing circles until it manages to fly up its own backside, disappearing completely, which adds to its rarity.”

On X.com I also commented that I was a “Trumpublican”. That’s not hero worship; it’s an embrace of a new political alignment.

I love your new avatar! So powerful and ferocious. And that’s how we all need to see ourselves. At times, we need to be ferocious!

Maybe it should be a “Trumpublicrat”.

Bit of a shoutout to British heraldry there, old chap? Not inappropriate. Not the Britain of today. The Britain when they had firearms.

It all starts with Magna Carta.

Too readily redolent of “bureaucrat”/”technocrat “, I think.

“Trumpublican”, on the other hand, brings to mind a meeting of minds over a pint of beer. Much more fun (joyful, even?).

A good possibility, of course. I recently saw something about how bobcats helped keep down invasive species, so they were at the top of mind.

Paraphrasing Frederick Douglass, the future is in three boxes: the ballot box, the jury box, and the cartridge box.

Actually, lions aren’t native to England either.

Anyway, a better name for Felis concolor is Mountain Lion.  So we’re good to go.

Or the Smothers Brothers’ favorite, the Puma.

Weren’t there four, starting with the “soap box?”
