Single Sex Facilities

Rep. Nancy Mace (R-SC) has proposed legislation to limit the use of women’s bathrooms and locker rooms on federal property to women. In other words, to bar men from using those women’s facilities, regardless of whether the men are pretending to be women.

I am not including links to “news” articles on the topic because I have not found any articles that report this matter without using inflammatory language favoring men pretending to be women. This itself is an interesting commentary on how rapidly treating men pretending to be women as actual women has been normalized in the media.

I understand Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene has suggested expanding the proposed idea to any place that receives federal funding.

I know Rep. Mace and Rep. Greene are controversial figures in many circles. However, I do not understand how this proposal to limit the use of women’s facilities to women is controversial. And yes, I am aware that Rep. Mace’s proposal was prompted by the election of “Sarah” McBride of Delaware, a man who pretends to be a woman and has announced his intention to use women’s facilities.

Rep. Mace is an interesting person to make the proposal to formalize the limitation of women’s facilities to women. She says that she was raped as a teenager. Therefore, I hear opposition to Rep. Mace’s proposal as a demand that a rape victim allow a potential rapist into women’s spaces, increasing her fear of being raped again. It is an interesting position for people who claim to “support women.”

I know two women who were raped as teenagers. At least two that I know of and who have talked with me about it. The rapes greatly affected their lives in many ways, i.e., the rapes were a huge deal in their lives (and for one of them, the rape was fifty years ago). Rape is categorically different from other types of physical assault.

We know of recent instances of males who have raped females in female spaces while the rapist is dressed as a female. Frankly, I’m surprised there haven’t been more, since so many groups invite males to enter female spaces dressed as females. I fail to see how inviting potential rapists and other men with bad intentions into female spaces doesn’t increase the danger to females.

Incoming Rep. McBride (the Delaware man who pretends to be a woman) knows he is the weirdo. His weirdness does not give him the right to demand that hundreds (or thousands) of women be made uncomfortable for the sole purpose of satisfying his unusual sexual fetishes.

We have enough problems with boys and men sneaking into women’s private spaces to cause harm (if not rape, potentially kidnapping, peeping, illicit photography, and other behaviors). We don’t need to increase those problems by encouraging males to enter female spaces by pretending to be female.

I don’t understand why anyone considers it compassionate in any way to invite men to enter into women’s private spaces. It is entirely reasonable for women to object. It is particularly cruel to tell a rape victim she must allow into her female space a man with the tool to rape her again.

The sensible and loving thing to do is to limit the use of female facilities to females.

It’s not hard to understand.  This is the natural consequence of the ideology of feminism.  One is not to discriminate on the basis of sex, you know.  It is held to be a very evil thing to do.

In this instance, this principle is being applied in a way that many women don’t like.  It seems unlikely, to me, that many will change their mind about feminism.

For the record, I don’t like what is being done, either.  This is what a country gets when it departs from traditional Christian morality.  Women, for the most part, led the charge on that departure, so I have less sympathy for them when they fall victim to their own bad ideas.

I do realize that not every single woman is a feminist, though finding a woman truly holding to traditional views is extremely rare these days.

Another thing that I don’t like, though, is the “victim” narrative about the woman proposing this change allegedly having been raped.  This is another typically feminist argument, though it is used by a number of other identity politics groups.

There are consequences for the choices we make that affect ourselves and others. If that Rep doesn’t want to accept the consequences–that his choice to be trans and use women’s bathrooms is an imposition on women–then wear slacks and a tie.

My question sometimes is, how much longer will men keep allowing women to push “feminism?”

Because “feminism” only exists through men’s acceptance, agreement, even enforcement.

Without men to allow/enforce it, “feminism” wouldn’t exist.  Women can’t do it without help.

If we forget the preposterousness of “trans” for a moment (which, apparently, some otherwise rational people take seriously – no idea 🤷‍♂️), can we talk about simple consideration for others while in public?

One person, who we would assume wants to be liked and taken seriously, is insisting on a behavior that satisfies something personal to him but is considered deviant or at best highly questionable and unusual to everyone else around him; that he is making others uncomfortable is blindingly obvious.

Even if we could argue academically that he certainly can do it, how is he the good guy in any of this? And why does such a large slice of society stick up for him to the discomfiture of everyone else?

If you feel like you are a woman but you’re trapped in a man’s body, couldn’t you, for the sake of propriety and not scaring the horses, just keep it to yourself? When in public in this man’s body you’re stuck in, dress it in a suit and tie anyway? Then if you have to use a public restroom, you can go right in and you’ll be fine, no one will notice. The whole world doesn’t have to change everything just for you?

You could, I don’t know, have the woman inside you cross dress as a man when you’re in public?

Apparently you’re unhappy about it, but you have a dick. It doesn’t mean you have to be one.

There’s a crude theory I’ve seen on the internet trying to explain it, blaming it on the ability to easily connect with others on the internet. It’s called the toaster [fornicating] theory and goes like this. In the past a guy would tell his friend that he likes to [fornicate] toasters. The friend replies that he’s a weirdo, so he keeps to himself hides the deed at home. Now, the guy goes on line, finds a 1,000 others who enjoy toasters, and they form a group and push for acceptance from society.

As to why a portion of society stands along side the deviants and pushes for their acceptance, I haven’t figured it out. I don’t understand how so many people are willing to say, “Yes. This bloke is totally a woman. In fact, he always has been you bigots.” Why aren’t people concerned that something that used to be a rare occurrence has exploded in the last ten years? There seems to be a group who think that Western culture needs to be dismantled and will magically be replaced with a utopia.

Wouldn’t that be nice.  I have to believe that at least some trans understand that the world does not revolve around them and does not have to re-order itself to suit their delusion.  I can’t believe that a 6 foot male swimmer thinks that he actually deserved any of the trophies he has been awarded.  But we certainly hear a lot from those for whom consideration takes a back seat to entitlement.

I don’t know why this point is not made more often Susan.  Adults should understand the consequences and the children who are being mistreated should be given this information along with information on sterility and other problems:  you will not be viewed as a girl by most of the world.  You will not be able to use the girl’s bathroom and you will not be able to play in girl’s sports.

Why is it a hardship for Rep. McBride to use the same facilities (toilet) as other men? Will he be attacked or offended by something he sees there?

I see absolutely no reason for society to cater to people claiming to be a sex other that he was born as. I don’t recall any accounts of “transsexuals” going the other way. Are women seeking to compete in men’s sports?

It seems pretty obvious why these men are claiming to be women; they competition isn’t as tough there.

It’s the same as the argument for allowing men to compete in women’s sports. How is a man harmed by competing with other men?

What is the moral justification for allowing a man to deprive a women from competing and winning at something she has trained and worked for many years?

Not to take anything away from anyone who has been assaulted, sexually or otherwise, but the more important issue here is the defense of truth. Men are not women. Everyone knows it, and the fact that so many pretend they don’t signals a culture on the verge of collapse.

As pointed out in #3, this will end when men “en masse” or whatever decide it’s over.  Even “feminism” doesn’t exist without the support of men.

Why, look–here’s an article from just two years ago:  Democratic lawmakers call for unisex bathrooms at the U.S. Capitol:

Reps. Katherine Clark and Hakeem Jeffries said single occupancy restrooms would help transgender and elderly people, as well as parents of small children.

I hope, since this article was written, that more unisex bathrooms have been assigned in the Congressional buildings.  That seems like the best solution here, at least for the moment.  Hopefully, looking towards, and playing, the long game will eventually bring an end to this unscientific insanity, but for now, this is where we are.

From what I understand, many of the Congressional offices–not sure how many off those offices belong to Senators or how many belong to members of the House of Representatives, or how they are assigned–already have their own attached bathroom.  Senator Fetterman, although he’s–right now, but not for long–the Junior Senator for Pennsylvania, must enjoy one of them.  He’s offered his en-suite bathroom to the new transgender Senator from Delaware, should Senator McBride wish to use it. Bless Senator Fetterman’s heart.

As far as I can see, this is merely another one of those media-manufactured crises supposed to wind us up and get us each at another’s throat.  Not playing.

Hardship or lack thereof is irrelevant. The point is to make a statement and a demand on others. People like incoming Rep. McBride demand that everyone else validate their delusion or sickness (or perhaps in some cases intentional choice).

A few years ago, when the Obama administration ordered schools to let students who pretended to be the opposite sex use whichever restroom and locker room the student wanted, regardless of the discomfort of the other students, schools suggested the “transgender” student use a single-occupancy restroom, but the “transgender” students and the Obama administration said, “No.” The government demanded that schools and all the other students at the school validate the “transgender” student’s delusion or sickness. Any discomfort or concerns those other students had was considered immaterial. The wants, delusion, and sickness of the one had to be catered to.

Great.  That’s what I had understood.  It’s a totally manufactured “crisis,” and I am sorry to see it framed, as it has been, even on this site, as some kind of thundering Christian issue.  I don’t expect normal and traditional Muslims enjoy the prospect of biological men in women’s spaces even half as much as traditional Christians do, but sometimes that fact can get lost in the shouting.

I don’t over scrutinize the people in the ladies room.  If they look and act female, i.e., if I can’t tell that they are males, then I don’t feel threatened.  Even if they are masculine women.  I am sure that I have shared the bathroom with transsexuals. But twice I have been in the ladies room where flat out men were in it.  They weren’t dressed as women;  one looked like a dockworker and the other was in a suit.  Fortunately the ladies room was very crowded or I would have left.  I locked eyes with the suit wearing one who seemed defiant (not the big dockworker type – I wasn’t going to provoke him).  You could tell that most of the women were uncomfortable with the dockworker.  I think they were with the suit-wearing man but it was at an academic conference so they were probably working very hard not to show it.

I say no. There may be men who pass as women easily enough to use the women’s bathroom, but I still say no because I don’t want to encourage men to take drugs and seek medical interventions that will result in life-long medical problems. A huge reason that we are even discussing this issue is that Tim McBride was encouraged by his very lefty friends at American University in DC to wear women’s clothing. He was the male student body president and came out as trans as a farewell at the end of his term. This allowed him to leverage his “marginalized” status as trans into a White House internship. By all accounts, this is a very politically ambitious man who will say or do anything to gain political power. So far, it’s been working for him. Someone like that shouldn’t be anywhere near Congress, in the bathroom or anywhere else.
