Childless Ana Navarro Gives Parenting Advice to Trump Voters
So in the last few days, I got a call from a couple of people, friends of mine, people very close to me in Miami, big Trumpers, who are worried now about what’s going to happen to their undocumented nannies that help them raise their children. So I told them that I suggested they learn how to clean their kids’ a**. –Ana Navarro
First of all, I doubt that Ana Navarro has any “big Trumpers” who are close to her. And I doubt that they would call her to bemoan their supposed impending loss of their illegal nannies. So this whole reported conversation is probably BS.
But leaving that to the side, Ana Navarro has no idea about parenting. She’s never had a child, even though she is 52. In fact, she only got married at 47, if Wikipedia is to be believed. So I doubt she’s ever hired a nanny, legal or illegal. And certainly never wiped a kid’s a**, as she put it.
But most importantly, she has no idea about the world that most Trump voters live in. Very few hire nannies to care for their kids. Most Trump voters have always wiped their own kids’ behinds. Many Trump voters struggle with paying for daycare or finding a relative to care for kids. And lots of Trump-voting moms (and probably a few dads) have the joy and privilege of staying home and raising their own children.

Kamala Harris got married at 50, and Doug Emhoff’s children were already teens.
I too call BS on the claimed anecdote. Even if there are Trump supporters who are concerned about their illegal immigrant nannies being deported, they would have thought about that long ago – not just after the election- and they would by now have figured out a plan. Deporting illegal immigrants is not some new or sudden idea from the Trump camp.
I am well into my 6th decade. I learned how to wipe a kid’s butt in my first decade. I don’t think I am odd or I wasn’t in my family. That was a pretty normal thing in East Texas in the 70’s. Families were fairly big and everyone pitched in…even the older kids.
I don’t know about Ana Navarro but I know about me. I was involved with raising kids when I was a kid. We didn’t have nannies. We had siblings and Aunts and Uncles and Cousins. We all helped out.
I suspect it is harder today with families being smaller and spread out. I still don’t know anyone with a nanny. I do know folks that are fine without one and have never considered one legal…or especially illegal.
It’s a problem for a pretty rarified segment of the population – one Navarro inhabits, but most don’t.
The Nanny Class. Kimba Wood please call your office.
Wait a minute. Have buttocks changed in the last few years?
It’s all part of the whole narrative that Trump voters are too stupid to understand their own interests. Somehow it only dawns on them after they voted for Trump what the disastrous consequences of voting for Trump will be.
Because 2017-2020 was just such an awful surprise.
Add a impregnated nanny to liven up the story.
Actually, that would make for an even better anecdote:
Yeah, it’s like someone claiming they have unnamed friends who were super-big supporters of Joe Biden, but then following Election Day 2020 were horrified to find out that Joe Biden is pro-labor union.
Pretty sure Kamala didn’t take care of that child either.
Ricochet. The website that asks the questions America wants answered!
I remember eight years ago, and political cartoons of Trump voters suddenly discovering that tequila prices might rise. Whatta buncha morons, rite? The man was depicted like Anger in Inside Out, bulging eyes and screaming mouth.
The condescending sneer didn’t do much good.
So I guess we can see what she thinks the immigrants are for: providing the well-off with cheap servants.
I mean srsly? We kid them about this, but they often actually say it right out loud. “Who is going to change your sheets in your hotel room?” “Who is going to do your leaf blowing?”
Jesus these people.
btw, the answers a sane, non-racist, non-bigoted a-hole would give to those questions would be:
“I don’t know, I guess the person I hired who came looking for the job who conforms to all of the labor and employment regulations that were developed and instituted due to decades of effort largely from the “compassionate” Party who is always on the side of the working man and the downtrodden because they are so considerate of the working class.
You know, that party who continuously agitated for higher wages and better working conditions for all.
The ones who are always going on and on about the disrespect of so-called ‘people of color’.
The ones who can’t stop talking about how awful slavery was, you know, the forced employment of a lower class of convenient scared immigrants to toil for them at substandard wages so they don’t have to pay the prevailing wage they insisted the rest of us pay. ”
These people make me as sick as that blocked field goal last night. Okay okay, a lot sicker.
Well, in my family, back in the day we hired two nannies. My wife hired me and I hired her. She didn’t pay me squat. That’s okay. I got even by not paying her squat.
No, Doug made sure that child got taken care of. Permanently. ;-(
And Ricochet is still waiting with bated breath for the answer.
Well, my personal experience says “no.”
I wiped our grandson’s and our granddaughter’s behinds many times when they were infants (about five years ago, so relatively current). They looked and worked pretty much the same as I remember our son’s and daughter’s behinds did when they were infants (about 35 years ago). Some of the diaper technology changed, but the principles remained the same.
The hiring of undocumented aliens is and has been a common practice for years among the more affluent families all over the country. Many are hired as live-in domestic servants. When I was a kid growing up in Forest Hills Gardens in New York my parents hired black women from the south who lived with us as maids. It was very common. It was said at one time that the only way a black woman to walk around in the Gardens was in a maid’s uniform.
In later years the women who were hired to do these jobs were out of the Bahamas and then, ultimately, out of the Dominican Republic or other Latin American countries. No one asked them to see their papers. They were generally very good workers who worked for a fraction of what the going rate was for an American born person.
I have heard over the years that Californians have large numbers of such people, usually out of Mexico, who serve as well. I had my roof redone back in 2020. The crew who did the work were all Mexicans, fine workers who did a great job. That is pretty much what all roofing companies in this area do.
What is going to happen to these people after the Trump administration comes to power is still an unknown, but I would guess that as far as deportation goes that these people will be the lowest priority, as they should be. Many have been long time residents, hard workers who are here to earn a decent living. I seriously doubt that those people hiring such workers are predominantly Trump supporters. My guess would be that, given the demographic of the new left, most are very wealthy or at least comfortably wealthy Democrat supporters. The large numbers of Hispanic and black voters as well as whites who supported Trump are more likely to be unable to pay a servant who lives in their home or comes there to perform cleaning activites or care for children.
Ana Navarro giving parenting advice is like Kamala giving interview advice . . .
A bigger problem is who is going to cut & maintain the lawn…kids grow out of needing their a**es wiped. but the grass keeps growing….
A second problem…did they pay FICA taxes on their nannies? I am sure the Treasury will want the answer.
Boy, I had absolutely no idea about this. I heard she was married to some fat cat hotel guy and I thought she was a Republican lawyer or something.
A lawyer. She’s probably just like Morning Joe Scarborough where she just lies to make money.
Another thing I heard was that Whoopi Goldberg makes $8 million a year off that show and the lawyer that makes a great big deal out of every liberal thing, I think she’s a Latino, she makes a million and a half a year.
It’s such a stupid show with people saying stupid things. And then voilà, cha ching!!
It is interesting how often that is the argument used for allowing lots of illegal immigration: “We need cheap servants; landscapers, housekeepers, busboys, dishwashers, pickers for our fruits and vegetables, etc.”
No wonder they like the current system in which the United States government directly facilitates the modern-day [literal] slave traffic into the United States.
Setting aside the social issues, the only way you can let in all of these uneducated desperate foreigners is if you run with constant deflation. If you don’t, the wages at the bottom will never catch up with inflation.
I’ve never met anyone who has a “nanny.” That’s so 19th century. That only happened on sitcoms after WWII, and only for the extremely wealthy.
Chances are, if she knows someone with a nanny, they are not paying payroll taxes, they aren’t paying social security, etc. In fact, the only reason they would be concerned about someone being deported is if they were here illegally.
I’m supposed to be worried about such people? They should be criminally charged, not pitied. People who hire illegal nannies are also at least indirectly supporting trafficking of prostitution. To hell with them and their nannies.
