Does Greece need an Iron Dome?

A self-righteous, anti-Israel TikToker became a symbolic American figure on Tuesday when she filmed herself vandalizing a Greek establishment while verbally harassing the staff (article linked here). The TikToker, using the name ‘Ambamelia,’ rudely shows up at Efi’s Gyro, a Greek restaurant in Montclair NJ.

The Story

Free Palestine, Bitch!” is the way she introduced herself to the Efi’s Gyro staff—I doubt this would be approved by Dale Carnegie. She goes on: “Yo, what you lookin’ at?!” Well, my guess is that the staff is looking at you. The person ripping down all the little Greek flag decorations on the outside while yelling, and wondering to themselves, “Who is the crazy woman and will she go away?”  Our Ambamelia then launches into her social justice-style “get into their faces” tactic berating the staff with familiar left-wing slogans. Cue it up: “You know damn well there’s a genocide,” the video then takes a cut and starts up again. So I imagine we were spared most of her rant. When the video started up again a staff worker speaking in a thick accent says, “This is Greek,” to which our SJW replies “Wha?!” He continues to emphasize, “This is Greek” in almost a pleading tone. Our dear Ambamelia begins to have a light bulb go off above her head and finally replies, “Really??”

Yes, Really

That is a Greek flag and a Greek restaurant likely selling Americanized Mediterranean food. And you just disrupted the place. Really. Zero self-awareness. She then proceeds to post the video of a potential misdemeanor crime to the public internet via TikTok. Without any shame or embarrassment. This is the world today in an America heavily influenced by Progressive education and culture – loud, aggressive, vulgar, destructive, ignorant, super obnoxious, simplistically self-righteous, and painfully avoiding any self-reflection whatsoever. Not even a potential “lesson learned,” or a note-to-self type thing.

The video got her millions of views. So let’s not be too hard on her. And, in her defense, I’ll say that the ‘Cross of David’ is typically a for-sure symbol of a Jew and an Israeli flag. You got the blue and white colors too. Greece also is along the same sea as Israel, close. Both countries have ancient ruins and archaeological sites. Both have had issues with neighbors. Neither Greek nor Hebrew look like English alphabetic letters. Maybe one could even cite a similar style schnozz. Geography is no longer required to pass middle or high school in many places, either. And if you missed it then, you likely won’t get it in higher ed.

I sympathize too, because I once had a flag misunderstanding. One year, with the 4th of July coming up, I ordered a red, white, and blue flag to put on my front porch, just like Toby Keith. When it arrived I proudly put it up. A neighbor had a word with me. He claimed that the red, white, and blue flag I had hung was actually the French flag. He, being rather persistent about it, finally got me to say, “Really?” Evidently, according to the neighbor, the American one has 13 stripes and a blue square with stars that represent something. Anyway, I was able to get a replacement for the 4th and avoid any embarrassment. There have been multiple American flags in the past anyway, so why quibble?

TikTok Meets Anti-Israel and anti-Jewish Content

I’m too old and too male to use TikTok. So I kinda have to rely on reports about trends in the content. From what I’ve heard, there is a lot of anti-Israeli TikTok content trending. Lots of so-called pro-Palestine groups are churning out clips that are picked up by the algorithms to popularize. This Ambamelia could’ve been caught up in all this trending material and learned the language and the behavior to mimic. Though at least she wasn’t too dense to listen to the pleading of a service worker saying “Greek, Greek.” I’m afraid in other Jewish and Israel-related situations such a common sense plea will not get through to the heavily influenced progressive SJWs. Scaled up to the national level, we have our VP Kamala Harris. She says she’s never been to Europe, so why should she know anything specific? She seems to act like a TikTok pro-Palestine group-influenced streamer woman. Maybe a gryo salesman can break through to her to better educate Kamala on certain international subjects.

From the NY Post here: [J]ournalist dubbed “conflict porn” and another called the “Tik Tok Intifada.” As with so many of the popular short clips that TikTok is known for, lots of mini packets of influential propaganda get spread. Longer form explanations don’t get boosted in this space.

It’s All Greek

With all the ongoing political controversy and military actions related to Israel, I’m sure the Greeks don’t want to be roped into it. God forbid a young American female progressive be put in charge of identifying the country to have Hezbollah missiles shot into. But hopefully, more than just TikTok Shorts can help better educate our American population on these subjects. But until then, if you ever find yourself in Montclair, New Jersey, and have a hunger for a gyro from Efi’s… remember they also take online orders for quick pickup, or better yet, delivery in case you enjoy eating in peace.

I take your point. Not the focus here, but I did make a hint to that issue. As far as I know the Greece-Turkey is not in the pop culture, but did get some discussion way back when I was in college. The angle that I recall on the left leaning college element was basically this:

    (1) US & Europe is being mean and racist to Turkey for not letting them into the the EU

    (2) USA supports genocide and ethnic conflict by backing the Turkish Govt on its suppression of Kurds. This was especially true for those who followed Noam Chomsky

Erdogan has become a much bigger player since then and the demographics have shifted the politics there. Turkey has become more fundamentalist and less cosmopolitan in the time that I first became introduced to these topics. Turkey is definitely a military power that can’t be overlooked. Turkey is not a two-bit country that can just be jerked around by US diplomats

True. When the ignorant protesters on college campuses are asked, “Which river? Which sea?” when they chant “From the river to the sea…” they typically have no idea.

A coworker was on the receiving end of a misunderstanding once. He was from Texas, and one year his mother-in-law wanted to gift him with a Texas flag but instead purchased a Chile flag. There is a strong resemblance in her defense.

How did we get to where we are today?

That’s funny. I can see that. North Carolina also similar, but it has the “NC” on it to help drop a hint.

Hopefully it’s understood that my story is purely fictional

Yes. Kinda like the early flag with the evergreen tree that was suddenly ginned up into a controversy because the legacy media wanted to attack the US supreme court.

I heard a theory that one day the American flag itself will be dubbed a “right wing symbol”. Already typically if you look at a houses if there is an American flag displayed on the property it is likely a conservative household. It’s also true that conservatives who are more politically minded have a greater awareness of early American and colonial flags. The “76” has sorta become a shock test for leftists.

On the left they seem to be displaying more and more the ever evolving alternative national flag of Pride-Progress. I have come to start to view it as an imperial flag. The undertone seems to be “we own this territory now and you will comply”

That was displayed when the DNC media tried to make fun of Sarah Palin’s appearance at a Tea Party rally. Sarah told the crowd, “We’re going to party like it’s 1773.” Reporters said, “She’s so dumb that she doesn’t know it should be 1776.” You got us there geniuses.

This is fairly typical of Palestine supporters.  No knowledge of anything related to what they think they are protesting.  No knowledge of the history of the region or of the politics and attitudes of the various players; no idea what “genocide” is; no idea how a war is typically conducted; and they can’t even find Palestine on a world map.
