What About Melania?
After all the vitriol this woman has endured for four years and more, it is a wonder that Melania Trump can speak positively of her adopted country. When she was the First Lady, she was insulted, ridiculed and discounted in her role.
In spite of all the nastiness sent her way, she always acted and spoke with dignity and intelligence. And she was a shining example of an immigrant who graciously served and sacrificed for this country.
Let’s face it: being Donald Trump’s wife was not the easiest assignment. We’ve heard that he has a softer side, which Melania would have witnessed, so the attacks he suffered from the media had to be impossible for her to ignore. Especially because there was nothing she could do about them.
But she soldiered on.
She launched her “Be Best” campaign in 2018, meant to raise awareness of cyberbullying and drug use. She stayed primarily in New York while her son Barron finished his schooling.
Assuming Trump wins in November, will anything be different in terms of the media’s treatment of his wife? Will she live in the White House, or stay out of the camera’s eye in Florida or New York? We don’t know how Trump’s assassination attempt will affect her activities.
Most recently, in response to the assassination attempt on her husband, she sent a letter to the public. Some excerpts from her letter reflect her graciousness and love of the country:
We have always been a unique union. America, the fabric of our gentle nation is tattered, but our courage and common sense must ascend and bring us back together as one. . .
A monster who recognized my husband as an inhuman political machine attempted to ring out Donald’s passion – his laughter, ingenuity, love of music, and inspiration. The core facets of my husband’s life – his human side – were buried below the political machine. Donald, the generous and caring man who I have been with through the best of times and the worst of times. . .
And let us remember that when the time comes to look beyond the left and the right, beyond the red and the blue, we all come from families with the passion to fight for a better life together, while we are here, in this earthly realm. . .
We all want a world where respect is paramount, family is first, and love transcends. We can realize this world again. Each of us must demand to get it back. We must insist that respect fills the cornerstone of our relationships again.
I am thinking of you, my fellow Americans.
We do know that she is a woman who represents her family and this country with dignity and grace.
Let’s hope the media will turn down their hostility to her, given recent events.

If you wanted to know who was a false person, just look to those who hate and disrespect Melania. Whatever anyone thought about Trump, her grace was always there.
The letter she wrote is beautiful. The legacy media will continue to bash her or ignore her. They don’t have an ounce of the class that she has.
I would love to see her more often, but I’d understand if she decided to be less public–for safety reasons and to avoid all the abuse.
She has been a fount of grace through it all. And I suspect she holds him to account in ways that we don’t see.
She’s a strong woman. For the first campaign, she made it clear that she would decide which events she would go to, and when she would speak. I think since she’s partnering with him in the WH, she should have that choice. I suspect she will do the same this time around.
Thank you, Susan, for that moving post. There is certainly more to Melania than her classy appearance.
Thank you, Jim, for your kind words. I respect and like her a great deal.
I was kind of skeptical of her like I am all first ladies. The thing that turned me around is one time they went to Italy. They were in Northeast Italy. She went to a hospital, and she spoke all of the languages of the children that were there. She speaks like five languages. She seems like a really gracious, well put together person. I think her son knows most of those languages, now.
If she was the wife of a Dem President, she would have been given Jackie O treatment. #Camelot!
She’s positively saintly, sticking around in a marriage to a man judged to have committed sexual assault who humiliated her by adultery with a porno actress and very probably many other trollops and strumpets.
She went into it with her eyes open, though, as her husband was well-known as a serial adulterer before she married him. I’m betting the prenup drafted by Trump gives her nothing if they split, so perhaps her loyalty is just self-interest.
Nice to see you Gold whatever you are. Now get lost.
I’m bitter about that. I mean that they kept her off the cover of magazines. It was just so petty and hateful but practical. They knew how hard it was for ordinary people to keep from loving and respecting the way she did First Lady.
Melania has a huge army of supporters on X, including me. We can hardly wait to have her back in the White House.
I learned something from the Godfather movie. If you wish to utterly destroy a person, you don’t kill them, you go after those they love. I hope that Melania and Barron have security at least as aggressive as President Trump himself. Given what happened this past weekend, they should have the highest level of private, not government security.
She gets a lot of money from her photos. I want to say it’s $1 million a year.
No, they didn’t. Rather the opposite, indeed.

I think the abuse will keep her more private than before. Why interact with people who only want to denigrate you?
Not a lot of those photos look like they were taken between 2016 and 2020. Of course she was photographed a lot before Trump ran for President the first time.
What are you talking about? It’s well-known that they wouldn’t feature her as first lady. I don’t think any of those photos came after he was elected.
I am wondering why she is avoiding all events.
The Vanity Fair cover is from February 2017 when her adulterous husband was certainly president.
One.
Adulterous? Oh my stars and garters! You sure you want to ride that horse? Every Democrat’s dream candidate Gavin Newsom apologized publicly for … umm … indiscretions with the wife of his campaign manager back in 2007.
You could fall back and make a go of it with the word salad-spinner Kamala Harris. The problem with Kamala is that the bar she cleared for entering politics was no higher than Willie Brown’s crotch.
If adultery is the strongest card you have left to play, your hand is busted.
That’s how many I randomly checked: one. Others are invited to undertake additional research, but I would have to charge for any further time spent on this activity.
Then they got shamed because they did it. There is no way in hell she shouldn’t be in all of those magazines with decent articles.
Bring up some other topic.
And what do you suppose the lead time is on something like that?
