Best Biden Option: Leave with Dignity

Given Joe and Jill Biden’s obsession with power and their irrational desire for Joe to stay in office, most of us can’t begin to imagine that he will voluntarily step down.

But he is meeting with his family this weekend, and if there is anyone who is sane in that collection of people, that person has to lead the pack. Somehow, he or she must convince not just Joe, but the entire family, that stepping down is his best option.

What will that person tell him?

Joe, you have had a long and distinguished role in the U.S. government. You have seen the country through upheavals, wars, protests. You have done your very best to protect this country, enacted policies that will lead us forward, and maintained your connection to our adversaries in spite of the difficulties you have encountered. You have even argued with our ally Israel, insisting that they must bring their war to an end. Although they have resisted complying, they have experienced the force of your actions.

You’ve looked at the video of your performance last Thursday night. It surprised you. It surprised all of us. Life has robbed you of a vibrant and positive outcome for a second term. But it doesn’t have to rob you of your dignity.

Joe, this will be the hardest decision you will ever have to make. Harder than whether to kill bin Laden. Harder than leaving Afghanistan. Harder than keeping Putin in his place. Life is calling you to acknowledge the cards you have been dealt and retire in dignity. No one will fault you for this decision. In fact, they will honor you and praise you for seeing the truth of your situation. This acknowledgment takes nothing away from your many years of service and your love of this country. It shows, instead, your courage to deal with reality for the benefit of the country.

We think, then, it is time for you to step down. You will have a key role in deciding who will replace you; whether you wish Kamala to step down or move on to brighter horizons. But it’s time.

I didn’t say it had to be an honest plea.

…the Biden team proposed the debate with a whole bunch of rules that they though Trump would never accept….

And Trump followed all the rules. I read somewhere that the debate stand-in at Camp David was bombastic, and when Trump didn’t interrupt or rise to any bait Biden wasn’t prepared for that.

Oh, I DO hope there was a Trump spy in place!

Or they could just say, “Joe, you have to drop out. And if you don’t know why, that’s why.”

I think they’re too exposed criminally if he’s out.

I think the bigger impediment is that too much of the Biden family is financially dependent on Joe being either president or having the potential to be president. If Joe leaves the presidency too many family income streams evaporate.

Well they were going to end fairly soon regardless.  Indeed, seems they thought they were already ending/ended in 2016.

I am convinced that Trump will win in a Trump-Biden race, that people who support Trump over Biden will turn out in such huge droves that Trump’s win will be indisputable.

I was convinced of this in 2020 and will never trust the election process again. Question, is this the last dance for the Boomers? Note, Burgum is a Boomer and Harris is on the edge of GenX.

Yes, but Trump could actually win New Jersey and others, this time.

    Random thoughts:

The Supreme Court’s ruling on presidential immunity from prosecution after leaving office for acts taken while in office is to come out tomorrow. Could be relevant to the Biden dilemma, especially in light of the IG Hur’s report finding Biden too far gone to be prosecuted for the classified documents illegally kept by Biden before election to the WH.

Also, if VP Harris became acting president under the 25th Amendment, she could pardon Biden (a la Ford pardoning Nixon) and maybe additional Biden crime family capos. A deal could be made. Isn’t Harris close to the Obama wing? They might be happy to have her in office.

THEY might be, but WE shouldn’t be.

    From PJ Media tonight:

So, for all the panic about Joe Biden and the mad dash to convince him to step aside, it’s clear that Democrats won’t be in a stronger position if they do, and that may complicate the next steps.

    Who knows?

70% chance we have President Harris by next weekend.

She wouldn’t be any better. And the same people would still actually be in charge.

I think that would truly be a big enough problem that it’s a deterrent.  In the olden days elevating such an empty vessel as even a figurehead leader would mean immediate attack by one or more enemies. What more weakness could we advertise?  Who would treat her as any authority at all? For anything – certainly not as a Commander in Chief, regardless of nominal office. I’d bet instead that there’s a new VP along with any action by Biden – she’s easier to dump and could be part of a story that once elected he’d resign in deference to a “truly capable and exceptional” VP. Can’t figure who that would be but you get the drift.

Sounds like the word coming out of Camp David this weekend is to brazen this out and press on.

Some of you just aren’t devious enough to see the whole picture. It’s all a farce, a delusion, and all the dems participated, some more than others. And they won’t mind flattering Joe in one big lie to get him out.

You’re right that most of us can’t appreciate just how well a mind of the left can deceive itself and the world.

    This way?

I remember the good old days when we mocked the USSR for being a Gerontracracy.

If the Heritage Foundation is correct, unless Wandering Joe either dies or is subject to 25th Amendment removal, there are three swing states where he cannot be replaced on the ballot. In Georgia, under some conditions, his name would remain on the ballot but the votes wouldn’t  be counted.

Dems have the perfect threat. Hunter. Step down or he goes down.

That would require Biden elevating Hunter’s best interest over his own delusion about how great he (Joe) is. A long shot. I don’t thinks Joe is a likely self-sacrificing parent.

I’ve always had a little sympathy for Hunter; just imagine what it must have been growing up in that family. Based upon that, Hunter is an overachiever in life.

    Do not bet on that.

I don’t remember the details, but I do remember when the Democrats replaced a Senate candidate at the last minute and got him on the ballot by getting a judge to rule it was important to ‘democracy” or some such bilge despite the law clearly making that impossible.

Some friendly Lefty judge will rule that to “Save Our Democracy™”  they must be able to put Gavin or Gretchen  or whatever other puppet they decide on  on the ballot in every state.

Senator Robert Torricelli (NJ). Yeeted from his 2002 reelection campaign for never having looked a gift horse in the mouth or something. Replaced by Frank Lautenberg at the last minute, with the blessings of the New Jersey courts if not the applicable New Jersey law.
