Let’s Play: ¿Quién es la mayor víctima?

Many years ago, when Saturday Night Live was actually funny, I saw what is one of my top five skits on the show. ¿Quien es Mas Macho?

I cannot find the full sketch, but…it was entirely in Spanish and a game show where the contestants were deciding who was Mas Macho between various actors.

Today I saw a news story from Chicago that made me realize that they were prescient. First the news story: Recently a trans woman was shot by an illegal alien which begs the question ¿Quién es la mayor víctima?

On the one hand we have a trans woman who was attacked by a cis-man who shouted a homophobic (with transphobic undertones) slur at her(him) before shooting her(him) three times and critically injuring the trans woman. One would think that it’d be a slam dunk and she(he) is la mayor victima. But on the other side we have an illegal immigrant from Venezuela (as is the trans woman).  This bastion of victimhood had been arrested multiple times recently for various other offenses. He is “linked” to the drug cartels for one.

With the help of a U.S. Marshals fugitive task force, officers took him into custody on Feb. 26 as he left a courthouse in west suburban Maywood.

He had been arrested two days earlier in Austin and hit with a list of charges, including felonies for illegally possessing a gun and ammunition, court records show. After a judge ordered him released that day, police records show he was quickly arrested again and brought in for questioning.

While he had been identified as the gunman and police had recovered key evidence — including a shell casing and video of the Ford Explorer used in the attack — Cook County prosecutors wouldn’t bring charges.

Oh, after this event, he was arrested again:

On March 3, the suspect in the shooting outside VLive was arrested yet again when police stopped him near a migrant shelter in the Loop, court records show. He was cited for driving without a license and blowing a stop sign, but the case was dropped the following day.

So, now we now the answer to the newest game show in the Progressive Utopia of Chicago.  ¿Quién es la mayor víctima? The drug cartel’s violent illegal immigrant and NOT the trans woman sex worker. You may now proceed with your daily dose of puberty blockers and fentanyl-laced cocaine knowing the current state of victim values.

Looks like the victimhood hierarchy is shuffling a bit. Or revealing once again who actually stands atop the ladder of identity groups.

Apparently the cis man had more powerful (and well-funded) advocates.

I was going to say the one who received the bullets was higher in the victim hierarchy, but then you used the i-word to describe the one who dispensed the bullets.    That pushes him to the top of the victim pyramid.  You should be as ashamed as our President was to have used such language.

I have to thank @dbroussa for this post. An old college friend and I used to joke about this skit and we spent some time this afternoon texting about it, mostly in Spanish. He said it really brightened up his day, and that makes it a worthwhile endeavor. Thanks, David!

Yesterday I saw some very old friends at my Mother-In-Law’s funeral. We were at lunch afterward at her favorite Mexican restaurant and I asked some of them if they remembered this skit.  At first, they were like…no…but as I related parts to them, they both remembered it.  I did list out my top six SNL skits

Alas, I cannot find examples of the last three (the Deli skit is a short, but you get the gist).

The one where Dan Ackroyd is playing Julia Child. And there’s blood everywhere.

If it’s the blood, Mad TV has just the bits for you!
