NYC suddenly not so liberal: No more beds to be offered to illegals?

Basically the new proposals inside NYC with the Legal Aid Society now indicate that a bed in a shelter will be provided to new arrivals for only 30 days.

If the individual is under 23, then that person might stay 60 days. (Of course, it is my understanding that documentation is rarely provided or necessary, so many will simply say they are under 23 years old.)

I doubt that this change is coming about because wisdom has somehow descended on those in authority, but because we peasants are restless.

One example: A  long time progressive friend who lives in the Niagara Falls area has been helping a close friend of his to find a new place to live. It has been an ongoing mission for over 6 months. My friend suddenly is finding fault with his beloved progressive Democrat Party. “Why are we senior citizens last in line while people who have been here a month are the top priority?”

I am glad to see that reality is now changing his mind in a way that idealistic platitudes cannot withstand.

But does he still vote Biden in November?  Seems pretty likely.

Caveat – the NYC rules are filled with exceptions, principally exempting minor and accompanying adults (that’s most of them,) those applying for benefits (!) and those with jobs. There is a provision for applying to stay, regardless. There seems to be no real enforcement mechanism. It does not reject those with form with the NYPD.

It’s not just New York: https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/us/chicago-to-begin-evicting-illegal-immigrants-from-shelters-as-new-60-day-limit-takes-effect/ar-BB1k0u81

I’ve seen the story in multiple venues.

    Why the half measures?

Instead of pushing illegals out of shelters, let’s instead just push them all the way right out of the country.

Maybe because they can’t really vote Democrat from Mexico?

I’m not sure New York is becoming less liberal as it is becoming more pragmatic . . .

Have you ever met a pragmatic liberal?

Pretty much all of them. They will do whatever is necessary to win elections and if enough voters show they don’t like their principles, no problem. They have other principles sure to please.

Being “pragmatic” about being a liberal isn’t the same thing, of course.  This would be about being pragmatic about the effects of liberalism.

Neither. New York is feeling pain. Pain is the only cure for the left.

I believe they are capable of selective pragmatism when an issue affects them directly . . .

Maybe that is true of 9% of the liberal hive mind. Those are the people who are of the very  few in number who somehow  have escaped the huge propaganda drives  aimed at their hearts strings and having no bearing on the requirements of reality.

But the other 91% will manage to spin fabulous examples proving how  they are allowed to rabidly oppose necessary new housing developments in their communities due to the “concerns about the environment.” All the while they simultaneously  moan and groan that if Trump gets in, the very  few immigrants Biden has allowed in will soon be deported, decimating the local eateries’ work force.

“We need to have immigrants arrive continually as enough of them  haven’t ye hit Calif yet to help out Marin County’s employers.”

Jon Tester, over on “X”, mentions this very immigrant-supportive measure undertaken by the Dems in Congress in the dead of night —

Last night, Senate Dems voted UNANIMOUSLY, including, to kill 3 crucial amendments: —Ending secret migrant flights of illegals —Ending Biden’s fast pass entry phone app for illegals —Deporting criminal migrants ALL DEMS VOTED TO CONTINUE THE INVASION
