Trans: Which Stage of Failure are We in Right Now?

Megyn Kelly was discussing current issues with Adam Carolla recently. She was telling a story about a Broadway show her daughter went to. It was a reimagining of Romeo and Juliet and it apparently involved trans, queer, gay, etc. Well Megyn was taken aback because her daughter is still a minor. Shouldn’t there be a warning or something so parents can decide if their child is ready to be exposed to these concepts? Neither Megyn nor Adam care personally what other people do, you see, but blah blah blah.

At this point I realized that this was familiar territory. We’ve gone down this path with many cultural issues. If there is nothing wrong with X yet Whitey Mannington objects to X, based on nothing more than disgust, outrage, discomfort, or outdated privileged thinking, then Whitey is just going to have to get his mind right.

In this case, if there is nothing wrong with men kissing other men (that’s been settled for centuries), or if there is nothing wrong with men and women identifying as the opposite gender/sex/or some other made up thing, then there is no need for a parental warning or a need to shield the kids from it. In fact, if Becky McTradwife wants to shield her children from the casual assumption of these concepts, then it’s she and her husband who are edging up to the child abuse line, via bigotry.

This part of the culture war is over, nothing left but cleaning up the holdouts and reorienting the defeated.  Whitey and Becky will get over their discomfort, realize their privilege, or simply die off. In any event they will fail to make an academic, intellectual, philosophical, or political case just as they fail to teach their children The Truth in the face of relativism and nihilism. Absent an actual argument the new brood will just assume bigotry.

It’s probably far too late now. The elites are already fully converted. Academia, white collar professionals, the media and politicians accept the change either because they’re pod people now or out of cowardice and corruption. Could it have been any other way after our earlier surrenders and losses in the culture war? Are we just a zombie civilization now? Or can we turn this thing around? How?

The play would have been really confusing in Elizabethan times when male actors played female characters.

    Wait, which one is Juliet?

If it’s worth doing it’s not gonna be easy.  But the answer is easy enough:

“Look unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.” – Heb. 12:2

Yes, there should be warnings. No, they won’t offer them, because the point is to normalize the El-Jibbity (especially the T). And you’re right — should people ask for warnings, then they’ll be called snowflakes and bigots.

But yes, there should be warnings. It’s time that we stop normalizing the abnormal.

I just assume that every contemporary production or adaptation is propagandistic and so I rarely bother to keep up. I’m hoping to go to London next month and if I do I’ll be rewatching The Mousetrap and not some insufferable sh1te on the West End.

    Yes.

Or can we turn this thing around?

    Unlikely.

    How?

Only by some eucatastrophe. Some unexpected reversal of fortune involving, I suspect, great suffering and near universal conversion — one saved soul at a time.

I agree, but then we can’t play prevent defense and we can’t leave it to individuals randomly taking a losing stand against the coordinated system. That’s a loser strategy in any context. We need a coordinated plan and leadership on how we will confront and reverse the capture of the institutions. Doctors are playing along with this, most of them not playing at all but sincere and feeling justified by science. How did that happen? Why did it happen? If there really was some actual scientific breakthrough then let’s hear it; if there was no scientific breakthrough then people with power have to defeat the takeover. Me keeping my kid from this Broadway play won’t win; me making a stink with the theater won’t win.

People have to be willing to suffer for the truth. Starting with people like Megyn Kelly and Adam Corolla. People who have a voice. It’s not enough to say there should be warnings to protect the innocence of our kids. We need people to stand up to the lies and call out the BS for everyone’s sake. Do not submit to the lies.

Agreed, but I also don’t want to march myself and my children into destruction. If me doing that changes nothing then I’m unlikely to do that. It doesn’t help that we’ve already been down this path – we know that individual resistance it futile and teh only hope is institutional response based on something more solid than emotion or discomfort.

Our innate desire to “be nice” has been weaponized against us. We don’t speak out because we have to “be nice.”

The problem, as someone I was reading on Twatter this week said, is that to be mean about something automatically renders that thing false. A lie. Which is to say if you say that there are only two genders, that’s mean because it “erases trans people” and therefore moderns take it to be a false statement. Things are true or false based on whether they’re nice or mean.

So, I think step one is to stop being nice. Assert the truth. The truth is good. Being good is better than being nice. Nice is not the highest virtue. In fact, I’m not sure if it’s a virtue at all.

Individual resistance is futile, but individual resistance also signals to others who feel the same way that they’re not alone. And the more people who realize that they’re not alone, the more that people will feel brave enough to stand up for truth. And a truth cascade is possible.

    Possible.

I have been ranting about this for years. Nice is meaningless. Especially when you first meet someone and my wife driving home as}k}ing do you like these people and I say she was complaining about ailments and he was uninteresting and she says yes, but they were so nice! What does that even mean?

I like and even love people, but I’m not nice and I don’t require people to be nice to me. I’d rather they speak their mind.

Yes, but you know what? Faith in Christ doesn’t just mean believing he was a real true person.  And it doesn’t just mean that in the great by and by everything is going to be wonderful. It means being His disciple:  It means following Him.  And that necessarily means men are men and women are women and men aren’t tempted by other men and women aren’t tempted by other women. (Romans 1 is true for all time.) It means that there is no other name whereby we must be saved  -no not one.  It means standing up and speaking out for righteousness even if it costs ones’ life.  It definitely doesn’t mean shut up and sit down.

    It means no compromise.

The sports fields and the locker rooms are the only remaining battlefield. Governments will threaten to withhold funding as a means to force through transgender participation in female sports. That they are sacrificing player safety in the interests of a radical ideology which has arisen a wet week ago, says so much.

Of course I don’t want to sit down and shut up. That’s what this post is about – what can we do this time to get a win instead of just another surrender? If the first answer is religious martyrdom then we’ve already lost. Such a scenario is all too realistic nowadays, but 1) the martyrs were fed to the lions for worhipping God, not for objecting to the ways of others, and 2) even the men of the Light Brigade were part of an army at war, taking focused collective action for a common purpose.

I’d like to do something effective in the here and now, without having to go to my death, without sinking my children with me, also without some suicide ride to certain death. Maybe that’s impossible, I don’t know.

Oh I know. I tuned out from the media for most of the week. I was hopping about it last year. It’s the fusion of the 2 identities that disgusts me, deliberately creating a nebulous female entity, a SaintGoddess, one who we aren’t supposed to be sure is real or not but is an abortion champion above all else. It’s one thing to denigrate a saint but another to replace her identity with someone else’s and expect people not to notice.

Communist countries (and their authoritarian ilk) explicitly state that the state’s relationship with a child will always trump the parent’s relationship with a child.

Certainly the state must step in when a parent is harming a child.

‘Harm’ seems to be an incredibly elastic idea about now.

Trans stuff is different from gays and lesbians, and it is running into a problem.   Trans stuff hits normal people, and thus it is getting push back.   People will tolerate a lot until it is interfering with their lives, or those of their kids.

I don’t have any answers either. Only questions.

One idea I can’t quite develop is that there is an army of people out here waiting for a specific productive way to help. That takes organization and leadership. How to start though? I think it takes organization and leadership in context of each area of life. Are there existing organizations we can join and do something? Or do we need to start from scratch (which is daunting)?

The filter through which evaluate these things comes from Andrew Breitbart’s, “Politics is downstream of culture.”

I do consider this a religious issue, just not a Christian or Judeo-Christian one.  The other side has their own secular religion, and only use science as an argument when it suits them.  Often the science they use is based on faulty or even dishonest research.

And their left-wing politics has taken over education.
