Imagine Apotemnophilia

A 15 paragraph tweet, posted by “Mia”, is one of the most powerful takedowns I’ve read of the “gender affirming care” insanity underway in this country and elsewhere. Mia starts out telling about Dr Robert Smith’s 1990’s leg amputations of two men suffering from “apotemnophilia, a psychiatric condition involving the desire to have healthy limbs amputated.” Mia describes the subsequent investigation of the cases and disgrace of Dr Smith. But then, Mia asks us to “imagine”. Imagine —

A world in which a powerful apotemnophile lobby group succeeds in convincing society that apotemnophile rights is the next civil rights movement. Their message is simple: Anyone who identifies as an amputee is an amputee.

Activists insist that some people are born with innate amputee identities, and they are the most oppressed people in the world. They declare it apotemnophobic to say that humans are bipedal. Anyone who dares express such heresy deserves to have their life and career ruined.

Imagine there were a sudden 4000% increase in teens identifying as amputees, but we were all forbidden from being concerned. Instead we were supposed to celebrate it. Most of the kids were gay or lesbian, or autistic. Almost all suffered from multiple psychiatric comorbidities.

Parents of kids with supposedly innate amputee identities were expected to rejoice at the thought of their child undergoing the amputation of a healthy limb, and protesters took to the streets to demand that these children become a part of this barbaric medical experiment.

And on and on Mia goes citing kindergartners being taught about “amputee identities”, “posters promoting body mutilation”, restrictions on criticism of amputation practices, laws promoting amputation, laws restricting questioning amputations. Mia’s description is so powerful that it is hard to resist quoting the entirety of her post. In the comments she gave permission to someone to translate and post in German, so I suspect she would not object to me posting here, but I will not as I have not obtained her consent. But you should read the whole thing.

But I will quote her conclusion —

That world is obviously mad, but our reality is worse. Because along with healthy body parts, teens today are sacrificing their fertility and sexual function on the altar of gender, before they even understand what that means, making this truly one of humanity’s darkest moments.

Either evil is to entirely engulf us or there is going to be a terrible reckoning for the malign forces at work in our society.

Do you know how a hydrogen bomb works? In contrast to the original atomic bomb, where the atom is split and releases enormous energy in a nuclear fission, the hydrogen bomb uses a fission primer to put the atoms under enormous pressure (fusion). The reaction ignites a literal sun that only exists for a short period because it does not have sufficient mass and gravitational pressures to continue. But in that brief period that sun consumes and destroys massively.

Our society is being put under enormous pressure. How can it not react?

Or how about prosecuting and jailing doctors who mutilate people? Seems straightforward.

We should also prosecute any parent who sought out such mutilation rather than seeking treatment for the obvious mental illness involved.

These are the very definitions of malpractice and abuse.

Yes, we live in wicked times.

That’s always been my favorite approach.

I’ve frequently made the same comparison as above. If someone went to a doctor and said “I won’t feel like myself unless I get my leg chopped off” we’d get that person into therapy. And if some quack actually did it, we’d use the full force of the law to punish that doctor. (I assume.)

But go to a doctor and say “I won’t feel like myself unless you chop my penis off” and if you find a quack to do it, both doctor and her victim will be celebrated.

A doctor removing otherwise healthy body parts in order to “cure” someone’s mental problems is a predator.

There may be adults deluded into thinking these surgeries and drugs are beneficial but on the medical side, the motivation by many and CEOs is cash. Lots of it. You create lifelong patients who will require “treatments” and medications the rest of their lives. I seriously doubt that any of these folks believe in a Creator. It takes a special kind of secular arrogance to believe that the Creator of the universe who exists outside of space and time goofed by putting the wrong “spirit” in the wrong body. It’s the ancient Gnosticism heresy that believed the human body is dirty and foul while the interior entity is pure.
Is this another casualty of our culture’s loss of belief in our Creator? Seems to me it is.

Maybe the procedure sounds sophisticated or special. How can they not see it is a desecration and mutilation?

That is why there seems to be only two explanations: beyond evil pursuit of money or mass formation psychosis. I would love to hear a third. Parents could be manipulated to support something they are told will keep their child from killing themselves, but health providers?

Wouldn’t it be something if the providers said, well, I guess I shouldn’t do it, but if I don’t, somebody else will…

Not parents who believe in a Creator. There is no amount of “manipulation” anyone could have subjected me to to convince me to torture and mutilate my child for his/her own “good.” There’s enough suffering in life without that kind of atrocity.

And I do believe this era in our society will be viewed along the lines of Mengele’s experiments in Auschwitz some day. I’m confident it’s already viewed that way in heaven.

Wait for it —  the next edition of the DSM will have removed apotemnophilia from the listed disorders, because it is totes OK. Just as has been done with gender dysphoria and, earlier, with homosexuality.

But it’s the same with the gender stuff.  If someone just “identifying” as whatever is supposed to be sufficient, and if the physical genitals don’t really matter, then why bother cutting them off?  I mean, if “identifying” is supposed to be what really matters?

And if someone “identifies” as an amputee, shouldn’t that be sufficient too?  They’re already telling us that they’re amputees without actually being amputees, so why not just leave it at that?

Heck if they’re claiming to be amputees while they really aren’t, wouldn’t that give them some kind of double-secret disabled/oppressed status?  They should be happy!

Has there ever been any evidence this has happened in the past? In other cultures? Civilizations?

    Why now?

Remember that chick that was blinded by a “doctor,”

It is beyond my comprehension that the psychologist alleged to have help her effect her desire would do so.

Desecration is a perfect word.  I have never heard any priest call this out as a desecration of what God created.   Silence is compliance…with evil.

Most men don’t. Hence the need to redefine “women” to include someone with all the gear intact.

I suspect many people hear “sex change operation” and just think modern medicine can magically turn a man into a woman and vise-versa. If more people understood the gruesome, horrific reality of these procedures I believe there would be a lot less public support.

That and calling it “top surgery” and “bottom surgery.”

Yes, we live in wicked times.

In California, any parent who opposes a school counselor, teacher or nurse who puts their child on hormone blockers without the parent’s knowledge is likely to have Child Protective Services show up at the door, to take said child away from such a malicious parent.

I don’t know if any one in the state legislature has brought about a lawsuit to stop this.  Kevin Kiley took the state and Newsom to court for the mask mandates and won. But Kiley left the legislature and  is in Congress now so it has to be someone else.

Which is why people with school-aged children should flee California and other blue states and some European countries. It’s a world gone mad.
