Arleigh Burke Destroyers

There are ships and boats in the Navy. Ships are carriers and destroyers. Boats are submarines and small patrol boats. The Daily Aviation website has an interesting video about the Arleigh Burke Class Destroyers and more.

There are ships and boats deployed at the present time in the Med and off the coast of Yemen and the Straits of Hormuz. Aircraft carriers, destroyers, fast attack submarines, and one Ohio Class submarine.

The video gives you a look at life aboard a US Navy warship.

    Great video.

Yes, and it gives you look at young Americans that have a sense of purpose, so all is not lost.

Doug Watt: There are ships and boats targets deployed at the present time in the Med and off the coast of Yemen and the Straits of Hormuz.

Corrected to reflect what seems to be our current political leadership.

Thanks Doug. Memories from 50 years coming back again.  Burke ships are much more massive than the destroyers guarding my carrier. But the were very good especially with AA fire.  Just remember everyone working 80 hours a week when we are at sea. Except me. So the ship’s lawyer only had to work 70 hours a week.  Maybe the pilots worked less. But those were the guys getting shot at. So they deserved the Heineken beers in their mini frigs that were verboten  to rest of us in the Navy.

If you squint just right it looks like “Bite Them” on the stern.

I think “Bite Them” was directed at the enemy, and I think it’s a fine sentiment.
