‘Deep Fakes’ Making High School Even Worse

A WSJ story Saturday described the awful torment of girls in a co-ed high school when the boys applied AI to photographs of the girls fully clothed… and produced and shared nude photos of their classmates.

Now, I remember being 14 or 15 years old. And I have had quite a few teenage boys living under my roof. And I can tell you right now that there is no way to put the genie back in the bottle. Fifteen-year-old boys have no moral code (especially when alone and bored), and they know what they want to see. Self-control? Puh-lease.

Nevertheless, something must be done. Having naked photos of you on the internet and available to friends and teachers and parents is horrible, affecting every facet of your life. Even if they are not real.

Here’s my solution: bring back single-sex education for 7th-10th grades (and maybe through high school). Separate boys and girls at this most irresponsible and fragile age range.

Does anyone have a better idea?

Not possible. There’s at least 107 “genders” and We can’t even define “boys” or “girls.”

Some of these people must be underage. Throw AI/ChatGPT in prison for that.

Teach the girls to photoshop the boys’ faces into gay porn stills.

There are countless AI services out there. The genie is out.

I think it would be good to have options like that.  I don’t think it would be a solution, mainly because I don’t believe there are solutions (except on the chemistry bench).   It might help, though.

Boys may not be that upset.  “Well, that’s not what I use it for, but it is that big!”

Meh. It would not have deterred any red-blooded 15 year old boy I have known.

Guys who are entirely straight aren’t threatened by the accusation. It might even be flattering.

When flint weapons and tools were invented, mastering the technology made a guy more likely to score with (actual) babes. Now technology seems designed to create incels.

Honestly, the challenge of AI is far larger than this. Framing people for crimes is a real possibility.

No problem. We can have a transfer bus idling out in front of each school. If the gender of the assigned school no longer “fits,” students can hop aboard and be taken to the institution that does.  Of course no parental permission slip required.

    Maybe this will work:

Every boy involved gets slapped by every girl involved and by her family, friends, and community.

    Name them and shun them.

    No tax-payer funding for education.

Yes, I wrote a never-published sci-fi short story in the late 70s about that.  Blackmail material created by computer using photographs, film/TV, medical scans etc for input.

And really, all the frame has to do is provide reasonably reasonable doubt during the trial of the actual killer.
