Choose This Day Whom You Will Serve
And if it seems evil to you to serve the Lord, choose you this day whom you will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served on the other side of the river Euphrates, or the gods of the Amorites in whose land you dwell; but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord. — Joshua 24:15
I participate in a dial-a-prayer line for my church (248-656-0121). It has evolved much over the years from various sorts of recording devices in the workroom of the church to as it is now with the use of a voice mail system. I can record the messages online now, never leaving my cave. One thing that has not changed is the content of what we record as the base message. It consists of an affirmation, about 120 words of inspirational message, and then a Bible verse.
Today’s inspirational message was officially about energy, meaning spiritual energy, but as I read it, seemed more about creativity. It ended with an abbreviated version of Joshua 24: 15.
I love every time I encounter this Bible verse. To me, it encapsulates the whole of the Bible in one verse. Choose this day whom you will serve. Will you serve the light and the good? Or will you serve other gods? Wealth? Power? Vengeance? Control? Pride? These are all false gods.
The Lord said, be fruitful and multiply. The Progressives said, Stop that! You’re ruining the planet. (Especially you brown people who are breeding too fast and are not as smart as us!)
The Lord said go forth and be the light of the world. The Progressives said that people are the problem, and those trying to make things better (in unapproved ways that don’t use murder and mass sterilization) must stop pursuing beauty and truth, because it is colonialism.
Yes, choose this day whom you will serve.
This reminds me of something else I ran across recently. It features mainly two men and a bet. One man is a famous doomsayer. The other, this video refers to as a doomslayer. Watch and enjoy:
May the Lord bless you and your house, Julian Simon. You are remembered as you served the Lord in your way and were a light in this world.

An inspirational and touching post, Arahant. Thank you.
I should have ended on a question. The most obvious would be “Whom will you serve?” but the answer would be too obvious and unanimous. What question should I have asked to spur conversation?
That one.
Ahhh… that fraud Paul Ehrlich. Amusing to see Dr. Wrong again in this video. Thanks.
Not as poetic, but more to the point, I think:
Deu 30:19 I call heaven and earth to witness against you today, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and curse. Therefore choose life, that you and your offspring may live,
Yep, wrong for at least 55 years and counting.
Ehrlich and his ink: Ignorant and smug.
Love this verse and the video. Much more to say when/if I have time. Can I count this for QOTD?
Your post reminded me of the Demographic Winter:

I’ll watch the video when time permits but our post asks the right questions at the right time. I cannot even keep up with all the headlines but who do you serve is the question at the end of the day.
I saw this also and I am glad there is a call to prayer and turning to God:

Sure.
