Because Sometimes, A Quiz Is Just the Thing
Today’s my birthday, and I’ve decided I’m going to give myself a little break from the intervention countdown. My husband told me I should think of some things I want to do today and do them, which seems like good advice. Fulfilling this instruction will almost certainly involve Indian food and a movie later, but right now, what I feel like doing is writing a quiz. And so, because nothing says “The news is wearing me out and I’m craving a time suck” like a long string of false dichotomies, I submit to you, dear Ricochetti,
Judith’s Birthday Quiz:

- Antarctic or desert island?
- Flying or driving?
Phew. I’m worn out now. Off to check movie schedules. (And that’s my last question: what should we see tonight?)
I have to admit, some of those choices came with qualifiers, for example “Port or Scotch” I sided with Port, but only if it was a vintage Port from a good year, and mainly because Port goes better with a fine cigar. The other hard choice was the 68 Mustang or the 67 E type Jag, I went with the Mustang because I know I can wrench on it a lot easier than the Jag.
Happy Birthday!
Happy Birthday, Judith.
Just had to add a few, because more is always better than enough. And happy birthday!
Happy birthday, Judith. Record another podcast for us soon.
Fond birthday wishes, Judith, and many happy returns of the day. And wouldn’t “Carter or Obama” be a fun political addition to the quiz?
After careful consideration, I choose cheese.
This is addictive!
We have to know your taste in movies before we can make recommendations.
“Iron Man (3)” was bad, “Avengers” ok
“Elyssium” was bad.
“Mud” was ok, maybe decent, but had holes.
“Star Trek” was lame…
Interject Editorial Comments:
1) the rut Hollywood is in now is pyrotechnics taking the place of…plot, character development, dialogue,….you name it, so don’t look for coherency in any way, shape or form. (What are you looking at that sort of thing anyway? You’re supposed to be looking at the pyrotechnics, rube!)
2) HW prefers to lionize criminals and social deviants; their protagonists are invariably bank robbers, drug purveyors, contract killers, etc.. If this doesn’t presage the fall of Western Civilization, then I don’t know what would.
“World War Z” while tense, had oh so predictable last third, though one scene in Israel was pretty cool, but then ruined with some inane, artificially manufactured crisis.
“Pacific Rim” ok (but see EC1)
“Jack Reacher” ok
“MI” ok
“Oblivion” ok
Ah, what’s the point. Nothing out there seems to earn higher than 7.0/10 rating. Sorry. Me, I’m waiting for the third Sherlock Holmes movie. Please come out soon!
Oh, and Happy Birthday (from all of Ricochet).
Now for answers…
What to watch tonight? Groundhog Day. And Happy Birthday!
Some of these are on extreme ends of the spectrum (i.e. gown or hoodie) but I went with what was closest to my choice. Happy birthday, Judith. I hope you have fun reading your quiz results. Will you be compiling the data and giving us results? ;-)
Is it your happy birthday? then chocolate of course. (Number 18 is unfair!! Both I say.)
This reminds me of getting my eyeglass prescription:
3 or 4? 4 or 5?
Happy birthday, Judith!
I just loved The World’s End, from the makers of Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz. This time, a Body Snatchers type invasion is the backdrop for a group of friends dealing with (or refusing to) growing older.

Happy Birthday! ·5 hours ago
Actually, I had a ’67 E-type. It was quite easy to work on, which was fortunate.
When do we get the results Judith? Happy Birthday.
I really hate questionnaires, but it is your birthday ;>)
Judith’s Birthday Quiz:
Happy Birthday to one of my favorites on Ricochet!
To save you some time, here’s my brief review of Quartet:
Meh.
Of course, Maggie Smith is always fun being Maggie Smith.
Firstly, Happy Birthday Judith!
