Although Biden did imply that the accident that killed his wife and daughter was the truck driver’s fault (his late wife was the at-fault motorist) he didn’t claim that the truck driver was drunk.  He told the drunk driving portion of the lie for many years but was finally persuaded to give it up a few years ago.

Old Uncle Joe is like that one relative that still receives an invite to Thanksgiving Dinner, weddings, and family reunions every year. A dreaded moment for everyone else that receives an invite. A dreaded moment as the pen shakes in the hand of the family member writing the invitations when writing his name.

Cantankerous, opinionated, and searching for an argument before he gets drunk. Never borrow money from the Old Uncle Joe in your family because it won’t matter if you repaid the loan, you will be cornered at every family event forever by your Old Uncle Joe. Come to think of it even if you haven’t borrowed money from him distance is still your friend.

Gee, that’s reassuring. Good to see you do some fact-checking to clear that up. Why I would have been under the impression that Biden was a serial liar.

Question: have you ever corrected any of the many blatant lies told about Trump ?

Usually, if there is a correction to be made in the defense of Donald Trump on Ricochet, somebody else will have already made it before I get to it.  I have defended Trump in person on a few occasions when someone has said that Trump wants people to drink bleach or some other nonsense.

showed “empathy” by explaining that he almost lost his Corvette and his cat in a fire.

Some of the clips that get sent around about Biden’s ineptitude I dismiss as hype, as I ask myself would I judge a Republican harshly for mispronouncing a word or stuttering.   But honestly, his response to the wildfires has been so inexplicable and awful that it should, in a sane world, sink his chances for even the nomination, never mind being elected.

Just the fact that he often sounds and looks like he is waiting for the Grim Reaper ought to make people think his re-election bid is a joke.

I liked this but unfortunately I can’t find an actual picture: Angry Maui residents slam Biden, hold ‘No Comment’ signs during president’s fire tour

I think a sign with this theme would work for most occasions:

Biden’s media allies now call him ‘walkaway Joe Biden’

Trump lost Hawaii by 169,000 votes out of 562,000 cast.  Biden would need to open fire on a school to make it a red state.

Well, it’s true that voters are fickle, and their anger at Biden over this may not overcome their hatred of Trump. Nevertheless . . .

“This is the most despicable thing this president has ever said,” a restaurant owner in Kihei, Maui, told The Daily Signal via a text message Monday. “How do you compare almost losing your f****** Corvette to the children burned in their f****** homes, man?”

At a small sandwich shop north of Kihei, a former teacher, Kristen Goodwin, described how she felt after such a comment:

There are no words in response to something like that. There’s a thousand people still missing on this island, business owners who want people to come back, and who is going to come to a secluded island with people still missing?

The community members have rallied together and have taken care of each other. It was several days before [the feds] came and helped. They shut down a road for no good reason except they didn’t want people trampling over [rescue and search] sites.

Nobody understands that unless they’re here.

Of Biden, she said, “I’m not voting for him again—that’s for sure. I’ll vote for Trump. I will never vote for him again.”

Actual, Biden use to say they died from a man who “drank his lunch on the way to work”.   I heard him say it.  He absolutely implied she’d died at the hands of a drunk driver.  Biden has said so many things so many ways you may not have caught it.

I wish that were true.  I’ve just never seen it.  Biden won Maui 65% / 31% in 2020.  Maui is about 12% of Hawaii’s population.  I think if any other Republican were on the ticket in 24 there’d be some small gains.  There won’t be with Trump.  He’s too deeply defined at this point among left and center left voters.  Hawaii’s Democrat roots run deep.  Mazie Hirono has the 2nd best approval rating in the Senate.  It wouldn’t shock me if a majority of Hawaiians blamed climate change and by proxy Republicans for it.

Maybe,  I doubt Biden’s shtick was well received that kind of thing can hurt a candidate in ways that are hard to actually calculate.  As you say though it doesn’t really matter Oahu basically controls the election results.  Everyone on Maui could decide to vote for Trump and it wouldn’t change the outcome of the state.  I doubt any republican could win state wide in Hawaii.
