The Person Responsible for this Probably Owes More on Their Marketing Degree Than You or I Make in a Year and Wants Us to Pay It Off
I have an idea for a new product, boss.
What is it, my boy?
A non-alcoholic beer.
I’m listening.
And we fade the label on the bottle to the point where someone across the room can’t tell what brand it is.
Marketing 101. Go on.
Except, we print the word ‘ZERO’ in bright red letters on the label so everyone knows it has no alcohol.
Excellent! Anything else?
We charge $2 a bottle for it.
Wonderful! That’s just the thing to turn around our fortunes after the Bud Light® fiasco.
Great title.
Brevity is the soul of wit.
I thought O’Doul’s had that market all sewed up.
And it’s right next to the Paulaner. Decisions, decisions. Who’s driving?
All that Bud flavor with none of that annoying inebriation.
And no one can see what brand it is so no worries about being judged!
Budweiser Zero has been around for several years. The flavor is very light. It’s not a very good effort on a NA beer (less than 0.5% alcohol by volume). However, if you want something with a little beer flavor, nearly no alcohol, and cheap (compared to other better NAs) then it’s your thing.
But instead of a thin, watery nothing, you can reach for an O’Doul’s and have a rich, full-bodied nothing.
For my money, Sam Adam’s Just the Haze IPA NA beer is one of the best going. Beck’s NA is good too. There are some good ones out there for my money, but O’Doul’s and Bud Zero just don’t make the cut. I’d put Coor’s Cutter in with the big name offerings too.
*I’ve been on a kick over the past couple of years to find a good NA beer. I like the flavor of beer, but I’m content to do without the alcohol, so I’ve been checking out the various options available. As a brewer, Athletic Brewing Co. has some pretty good offerings for what is a no-name brewer to me.
That’s good to know. We’ll soon be in Ireland and doing more beer consumption than usual. My wife never orders alcoholic beverages, though she always wants a sip of what I’m having. She likes to order a NA beer for herself. Seems to me that last time (pre-Covid) she found a good one that she could get almost everywhere in Ireland, but I don’t remember what it was.
I suppose the obvious next question is, does SHE remember?
Lot’s of people wake up with memory gaps after a mad NA beer binge.
Nah. I filter my tap water.
