Interpreting the Wisdom of Joe Biden
I was looking for a C.S. Lewis quote on BrainyQuote.com. I was amazed at the insights and wisdom from several pages of his quotes. On a lark, I typed in “Joe Biden“, wondering what interesting quotes were attributed to him. I was not disappointed:
Well, I thought the deal was, when you went to work for the government you weren’t supposed to make money!
Corruption is just another form of tyranny.
Putin sought to keep Ukraine weak through corruption.
We must rekindle the fire of idealism in our society.
Fighting corruption is not just good governance. It’s self-defense. It’s patriotism.
Corruption is a cancer: a cancer that eats away at a citizen’s faith in democracy, diminishes the instinct for innovation and creativity; already-tight national budgets, crowding out important national investments. It wastes the talent of entire generations. It scares away investments and jobs.
Don’t hold against me that I don’t own – that I don’t own a single stock or bond. Don’t hold it – I have no savings accounts.
I’ve been really, really fortunate.
When the stock market crashed, Franklin Roosevelt got on the television and didn’t just talk about the princes of greed. He said, ‘Look, here’s what happened.’
I exaggerate when I’m angry, but I’ve never gone around telling people things that aren’t true about me.
In the good old days when I was a senator, I was my own man.
I don’t say very much I don’t really think through. I know that sounds inconsistent with Joe Biden.
Just talk to me as a father – not what the Constitution says. What do you feel?
I’m not big on flak jackets and tie-dyed shirts. You know, that’s not me.
In my neighborhood, when you’ve got something to say to a guy, you look him in the eye and you say it to him.
You know we’re going to control the insurance companies.
A gaffe in Washington is someone telling the truth, and telling the truth has never hurt me.
Foreign policy is like human relations, only people know less about each other.
Let’s just be smart this time. I’m looking for smart.
You may not care what Joe Biden says. But I would remind you that this man is the leader of the free world.
I learned a lot from the C.S. Lewis quotes.
The Joe Biden quotes taught me only one thing: We live in strange times, my friends.
The fact that this man ascended to the highest office on the planet says more about America’s problems than it does about Mr. Biden.
I wish this were funny.

It’s baffling, isn’t it?
We are blessed with the worst political leadership in American history.
Take heart that the average American is pretty good. Still, I am amazed at how terrible our politicians are compared to our middle class.
Biden and Trump are merely symptoms of…something. I would hate to cause it a national illness because that would suggest that there might be some “cure” – some magic potion to make everything alright.
Perhaps they (and others) are roadsigns along the downhill road the country’s politics is on. The one that said, “If you’re smart, turn around here” seems to have passed by a long while ago.
@flapjack.com
I actually think Trump got the level of attention from those taking us downhill that we might have a chance to recover. They are now acting very openly.
You got the first mainstream African American who is articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking guy,I mean, that’s a storybook, man.
— Joe Biden, 2007
I burst out laughing as soon as I read your title. And then I read the actual Joe Biden quotes and it saddened me. The man is a shell of a person.
Yep.
Biden never had much on the ball to begin with.
Nothing makes me gag more than the photo framing that strives to put a halo around politicians noggins.
I gave this a like, even though there’s nothing to like here.
May be Ricochet needs a ‘Send this to the main feed’ button, instead of a like button.
You left out “Cornpop was a baaad dude”
To a reporter asking a challenging question-
“I think I have a much higher IQ than you do, I suspect…”
That this guy was ever VICE President is appalling.
Ok. Let’s get rid of Biden.
Well he’s the President of Vice, now.
God help us.
AND he’s a crook.
I suspect he is faaaaaaarrrrr worse than that but I will save my conspiracy theories for another thread.

“Nobody ever went broke underestimating the intelligence of the American people.”
— H.L. Mencken
aka “There’s a sucker born every minute.” – P.T. Barnum
or “Most people have an IQ of 100 or less, by definition.” – Me.
America has endured not because of the intelligence of its people but because of their hearts, their can-do attitude and positive outlook on life.. As Abraham Lincoln, the quintessential American, famously said:
“Most folks are as happy as they make up their minds to be.” And he had a thoroughly miserable marriage.
It is a shame that so many people today, especially on the left, have made up their minds to be unhappy.
I hope you don’t mind my improving your post title . . .
Biden is the consumate American politician, a combination of Willie Sutton and P. T. Barnum with a dash of Baron Munchausen added for flavor.
No, each of these individuals had a roguish charm. Biden has no charm whatsoever.
I think this is it. Has he ever had an original thought or a genuine conviction? He is an empty suit which dresses up the prevailing ideology of the Democrat party. He squints and he shouts to show he means it. Until tomorrow, when he says something else. And then denies he was ever otherwise, constantly reinventing his life story to fit today’s narrative.
I don’t think Biden has a clue what the Program is.
He only sniffs money and little girls.
Joe Biden has always been a repulsively corrupt liar, grifter, and plagiarist. He first ran for the Senate when I was in high school, and I’ll be 70 next year. In the intervening half-century, he’s done nothing but feather his own nest, lie about his positions and his objectives, and use his political power in manipulative, mendacious, and disgraceful ways to take down and sometimes obliterate his adversaries, even if it means co-opting agencies of the federal government to do so.
Everything he does, is with the intent of ‘feathering his own nest,’ which is the highest form of political ambition, and the only aim of it, he’s ever known.
I simply do not get his appeal as “good old Scranton Lunchbox Joe” or “Empathetic Joe,” and I never have, even when he was at what passed for his ‘best.’ He’s always been a total phony. (I sometimes think –along with the advent of his dementia–that perhaps the real Joe Biden is more on display than has been usual over the years. “Look, Fat,” “Stupid son-of-a-bitch,” “dog-faced pony soldier,” and so on.) Yet somehow, even these unforgivable outbursts are played as “Good Old ‘Human’ Joe and Thank God there are No Mean Tweets.” It’s inexplicable, other than when you realize that the Left’s thirst to stay in power supersedes all else, apparently even overcoming the feelings of the few people who ought to love and care for Joe–his family–and who are complicit in this atrocious spectacle.
Joe must be some kind of cosmological accident. Each of those people had a good amount of actual intelligence. Biden has none.
Joe may have long ago ruined his own family as well, and now they’re doing what they can to get what they can from him – status, and money – as some kind of recompense.
I’ve been saying it since 2021. As awful as Ms. Cackles is, she would be an improvement over Brandon. She would really bring the familiarity breeds contempt adage to bear.
I never once saw a photographer give Trump a halo. Not even once.
